Our focus is ACEs recovery, creating solutions for American homelessness, and learning to cultivate trauma-informed friendship AND ministry.

Due to her own experience of having become homeless due to mental illness, Connie shares her thought-provoking art projects that she created during her own recovery journey.

Connie took notes during her many "little talks with Jesus," and shares her stories in order to equip faith leaders with the skills to re-color our world in the colors of love, collectively face our ACEs, and raise awareness about the need for trauma-informed ministry.

American Ingenuity, an introduction to homeless recovery coaching from Connie's House! Where do you and your family belong in the quest to create the solutions that are so desperately needed in America, and especially for those who are homeless among U.S.?

This project is designed to turn our thoughts toward improving the way we meet the needs of those whose lives are severely impacted by trauma, and is my first of many projects designed for those willing to learn about the need for ACEs recovery and cultivating trauma-informed friendship.

"Where in the world is your faith taking you?"
After His resurrection, and before He ascended back to heaven, Jesus told His disciples to teach the lessons they have learned while living and walking with Him.

As a modern day follower of Christ, my personal experience of becoming homeless is the reason I have chosen to discuss the niche topics of homeless recovery and emotional healing with you.

Lack of a place to call home was the nightmare I didn't see coming, but after many years of healing, the RECOVERY aspects of ending homelessness have become the grand adventure that I am here to share with you!!

There ARE solutions to homelessness, so the question I ask today is rooted in the fact that my faith in Jesus took me into the territory of American homelessness so He could TEACH ME how to implement the solutions He has in mind for ALL of us.

My new studio space is prepped and ready for me to share my artsy, crafty social studies guides with you, and I invite you to join me as I show you how Jesus led me into, then through, and then out of the ugly reality of having no place to belong.

The topic can be frightening to think about and the conversations can be awkward... but, the need to help people is more important than our fear of the discussion.

So, let's talk about these things!! Once again, the question is...

What do you see when you read the Bible? Have you found yourself in it's pages yet?

I have, and I couldn't be happier about what I have discovered in the treasure chest of God's word to ME!!

I collected these drawings, worksheets, coloring pages and handouts during my 2016 hospitalization. At that time, I was still desperately trying to figure out who I was and where I belonged. It was a very painful season of my life, but I found great treasure during that time of diving into the quarry of my long-lost yesteryears.

As I pondered my thought processes and my favorite Bible stories, I discovered that the Spirit of God that lives in me identifies as a "Mother Hen."

My life has been forever changed by my journey out of the church house and into American psych wards and homeless shelters.

I look forward to sharing more pages from my Adventure Book with you, so we can discuss the details of how we can better implement recovery strategies for those who are still homeless among us.

There is a lot of discussion about the topic of ACEs Recovery, but what we hear less often are any details about the recovery process itself.

The images in this post are from a scrapbook I created using the materials I collected during a psych hospitalization for med adjustment and crisis stabilization. (Circa, 2016)

The contents of the book include pictures I drew of my business dreams, worksheets, coloring pages, creative writing and other materials I collected during classes and therapy sessions.

I have found art therapy to be one of my favorite ways to do my thinking on paper, and visualizing my thoughts with my own artwork has been a powerful tool for self-expression and self-discovery.

I will share more pages from my book as I continue sharing my thoughts about homeless and ACEs Recovery. I hope you will find comfort and insight as I share details of what I have learned about behavioral health care and serious mental illness. (SMI)
