The States of Guernsey Revenue Service have just announced that the deadline for submitting the completed 2020 income tax returns has been extended to 7 March. The 2021 tax returns will be available to complete sometime after that.

Last week some individuals may have received a letter from the States of Guernsey Revenue Service entitled “Outstanding income tax return for 2020 - urgent action needed”.
Probably, a lot of Alderney residents have not yet received confirmation of their 2019 final assessment - some even their 2018 assessments. However, this does not mean that the submission of the 2020 tax form can be further delayed.
To avoid a late filing fee of £200 and continuing penalties of £10 per day please deal with this urgently.
The completed tax return for the calendar year 2020 needs to be submitted to the Revenue Service by midnight on 28 February 2022.

Personal Tax Returns
Further to my post in November, if you haven’t yet submitted your tax return for 2020 to the Revenue Services please read below:
Anyone living, working or receiving income within and from the Bailiwick of Guernsey and Alderney, is required to complete a tax return each year. The only exception is if you have been advised, in writing, by the Revenue Service that you no longer need to complete a form.
2020 forms are available to complete, either online or paper forms are available.
The deadline for the submission of the completed 2020 tax form is 28 February 2022. An automatic penalty is likely to be imposed if the tax return is not received by the Revenue Service by that date.

For 2022 the personal tax allowance for Alderney and Guernsey individuals has been increased to £12,175.
