On a road trip to Nashville & had to stop at this historic cemetery in Louisville, KY. In addition to being the final resting place of KFC’s Colonel Sanders and boxing great Muhammad Ali, it’s also where Patty Hill is buried. She was a kindergarten teacher and wrote the ”Happy Birthday” song with her sister Mildred.

I’m working on a presentation for the winter months when outdoor tours aren’t usually possible. It’s called “The Real Housewives of Lake View Cemetery.” A winter evening, a glass of wine, and wonderful tales of the women who helped shape the city along the banks of the Cuyahoga. Stay tuned. 🍷

Happily the rain held off and the gloomy evening was the perfect backdrop for the “Tales from the Tombs” I was weaving tonight as we haunted Sections 12 & 10 (known as Millionaire’s Row). We planned tonight’s tour around the Harvest Moon but the cloudy skies were out in spades.

Tonight’s Harvest Moon is final supermoon of 2023: How to see it The Harvest Moon, the fourth and final supermoon of 2023, will be visible beginning at sunset and will reach peak illumination around 5:58 a.m. Eastern on Friday, according to the Farmer's Almanac.

CORRECTION: Re Charles Brush--In 1927 he lost his son and GRANDDAUGHTER, Jane. Charles Jr. gave a blood transfusion in an attempt to save his daughter, who was very ill. She did not survive and he died from complications brought on by the transfusion.

Regarding the demolision of this mansion on Millionaire's Row: His two daughters who survived him in death did not wish to maintain the mansion and within a year of his death in 1929, his will was fulfilled. It stood on the north side of Euclid Avenue roughly where the Red Cross building stands today 3747 Euclid Ave.

Did you know when scrolls are used on gravestones they symbolize a person’s life? The past rolled up, the present (moment of death) on display, the future in the after life yet to be revealed. We'll be visiting this haunting monument on my tour this Thursday.

The interior of Wade Memorial Chapel at Lake View Cemetery may very well be the only surviving un-altered, ecclesiastical installation of stained glass, mosaics, and interior design by Louis Comfort Tiffany still in its original setting in existence anywhere in the world today! However, beautiful Tiffany windows, like in this story, are still being discovered!
