🍋🦷Who hasn’t had a slice of lemon is hot water when they are feeling ill? It can do wonders for a sore throat, but if you’re having a hot lemon drink often- beware of enamel erosion!

Enamel erosion occurs when acids, often from extrinsic factors such as diet attacks the outer layer of your teeth!

This can lead to the degradation of your enamel and allows the underlying MORE YELLOW layer (known as dentine) to show through!

So in order to keep your pearly whites bright and your enamel healthy, limit acidic food and drinks including citrus, soft drinks (even diet), wines and tomatoes! ✨

✨🦷 Did you know that proper oral hygiene can reduce the amount of staining on your teeth?🦷✨
Having a build up of plaque and calculus (tartar) acts as canvas for stains! The rough surface of the calculus and plaque allow for any stains (including those for tea, coffee and smoking) to grab on and hold tight! These stains often need to be cleaned off with a visit to the dentist or hygienist for a clean!.
The best way to prevent these stains from occurring is to make sure you’re brushing AND flossing to get rid of all soft plaque, before it turns into hard calculus!.
If you don’t floss you’re only cleaning 60% of your roots surface!! So make sure you are gently getting between your teeth with floss every night!.
This way we can not only help prevent staining, but also keep your pearly whites healthy and strong!.

✨ try to avoid food and drink that stain your teeth for 48hours after treatment
This includes black teas and coffees, red pasta sauces, curries and red wine!
✨ keep up excellent oral hygiene (and yes that means flossing! ) 🦷. This will help minimise plaque and calculus build up .
✨after eating and drinking rinse your mouth with water to avoid stains settling on teeth!
✨depending on your lifestyle habits, teeth may need maintenance treatments every 6-8weeks to keep them beautiful and bright
