Powys Outdoor Charity Swimmers

Well that's my second full moon dip of 2023 done. This time at Pont ar Elan, Elan Valley.

Most definitely a 'Tourettes' dip, with water temperature 5° and air temperature just below zero. A little tricky getting dried and dressed in the dark.

Stunning sunset, then moon and stars. Sorry, no 'in water' pic this time, far too cold for me to navigate selfies in the water.

Liz met the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team just before Christmas. They'd just finished a rescue of a gentleman who'd fallen and had a suspected broken ankle.

After a short chat about what they do and the areas they cover, she discovered they're the same areas she swims in. And as they do such an amazing job, wouldn't it be great to try and help them out.

That's when Liz came up with the idea of 23 swims for '23 all around the area covered by the team. Al thought she'd just be doing the techie side of setting up a JustGiving and page. She should have known better.

So, we started our challenge for 2023. 23 outdoor water dips or swims throughout 2023. Some months we might manage more than 2, but we commit to getting wet at least once every month, regardless of the temperature.

Our first swim of 2023 in aid of Brecon Mountain Rescue.

The water may even have warmed up a little. Air temperature 11°, water temperature 8°.

Al manage a dip, Liz three dips. No wetsuits in sight. And, surprisingly light considering the cloud cover.
