Meet one of our amazing super star participants of the first round of Ideas to Income, Maggie Mokiti.

She owns MAG's Lifestyle (PTY) Ltd which is a textile company, with a trust of helping designers and small firms focus on their core business goals they seek to achieve. This is being done through integrating all supply chain activities mainly focusing on insourcing different styles of textiles and distributing them to different designers.

Ideas to Income has helped her to focus and commit to this business idea which she is taking steps towards achieving.

Maggie is also now working with She is a Wildflower NPC to help us with co-ordinating the next rounds of this programme, so keep your eyes peeled for when we announce the next round.

The first part of this year has felt like a whole year in itself for many.. and it can feel like everything you set out to do is just not going to happen.

So we thought we would share some inspiration, to just keep putting one foot into front of the other.. rest if you need to rest and celebrate each win big or small.. # # #

For a while we have wanted to feature people who inspire us, to share the inspiration, so here is our first one.

Meet Ndivhuwo Nelwamondo Dlamini, she is a 32 year old born in Venda Limpopo. She currently is a property business consultant who holds a Bcom in Accounting degree, an honours and also an MBA Masters.

She also teaches people woodwork online or has a physical class you can attend. Ndivhuwo started working with wood in July 2021 which started as a need to fill up her home with furniture she couldn't afford at the time, that's where she started making furniture.

She teaches people how to do carpentry and woodworking so that they can be in a position to make and sell the items they made themselves so that they can make a living in this hard economy where we need different streams of income, and also be able to maintain and design their own homes.

We love what she says - "I believe that there's power in our hands and we are destined for greater things".

Happy Human’s Rights Day! Here at She is a Wildflower we believe that access to healing and mental health care is also a human right.

A lot of what brought us to starting the NPO was seeing gaps in these spaces where healing is so needed but is not always available, either due to finances and often from people being traumatised by the systems that are supposed to protect them. We need to feel safe in order to heal and it is what we are hoping to continue to create, safe spaces for our healing and liberation.

May we continue to lovingly fight for our fundamental human rights, and thank you to all those that sacrificed so we can be here today. May we continue to build on the foundations you created.

In the book by Elizabeth Gilbert “Big Magic” it speaks about when an idea finds you, it wants you to bring it into the world.

It is not a coincidence that you have that idea to do something different, however we do know that there are barriers to making this into an sustainable income. It takes time, it takes effort, it can even involve a lot of heartache.. it’s a risk.

Meet Refiloe Khameli, the amazing woman behind The Mindset Mistress, . We are so excited to be collaborating with her for Idea to Income which will be happening the beginning of next year

Fila is a certified mindset, productivity and business coach. Owing to her passion about female entrepreneurship, she teaches women how to monetise their talents. Her methods include guiding them through their limiting beliefs into a place of new thoughts and habits.

Leaning on 16 years corporate experience and years of running three of her own businesses, she focuses on women who run ‘side hustles’ and passion projects. It is her vision that they start and formalise those into compliant, profitable and sustainable businesses so that they can achieve financial independence.

We are excited to announce a collaboration that has been in the making for some time now.

We will be launching the first round of Idea to Income with Fila from starting early next year. This is a personal and business coaching programme for anyone with an amazing idea wanting guidance on how to start a business and turn that idea into sustainable income.

We as women have always been strong, there is absolutely no doubt about it. We are resilient. We are the backbone of our families, of companies and of communities. We are powerful and we hold the key to bringing about real change, even though we don't always see it, feel it or believe it.

Many of us are also so scared, for ourselves, our children, our loved ones. We are scared and we are tired of shouting into the abyss. Tired of proving ourselves, tired of having to be anything other than ourselves to be heard, seen and acceptable… as we continue to find ourselves conforming to outdated gender roles and stereotypes, all while also trying to be equal. And even worse in South Africa, as we continue to be ranked as the world's most dangerous country for women.

Dear wildflower women, we know it can feel hard when you are being told to be stronger. We can only hope that we can find the courage to keep our strength, and use it to go through these feelings. The fear, the pain, the heartache, the anger, the rage. Not around it, but through it, just for a little bit longer. Let's use that as fuel, to heal ourselves, and to have the courage to take the hands of the women behind us and next to us. To rise and become the fire from our own ashes. Let's not let it be in vain.

Happy Heritage Day, may we have the courage to continue to reclaim our heritages and reimagine our future.

Calling all storytellers, dreamers, weavers, warriors.. everyday South Africans.. who are ready to reclaim heritage day.

We are hosting an online event on the morning of Heritage Day, 24th September 2022 from 10am - 11.30am… along with a very special guest, Mayuri Govender.

Mayuri will be facilitating by setting brave space for us and will speak about:

• What is heritage?
• Decolonising your idea of heritage
• What decolonising her heritage has meant for her identity
• Braai Day and food - why sanitising a day like this is not honest for preservation of heritage

We will then have a sharing circle afterwards where each person can share something from their heritage. This day is so much more than just “braai day” and we are passionate about bringing people together to share their heritage and culture, to learn from each other and to see each other human to human.

Mayuri Govender is an attorney, editor, essayist, and transformation consultant. She is passionate about South African history with a particular focus on making South African Indian indentured history a nuanced and accessible history for all South Africans through her Instagram platform () via researched posts and video content. Mayuri has advocated for anti-racism and anti-discrimination in the school transformation space and continues to shed light on decolonial education through her work.

On the 9th August 1956, about 20,000 women from all over South Africa took to the streets in one of the biggest demonstrations in our country’s history, in protest against Pass laws.

4 brave women, together with all those followers, marched towards the Parliament building in Pretoria to hand over a pile of petitions collectively containing about 100,000 signature against the pass law amendments.

Today we thank those women for being a crucial part of the freedoms they created for us today, but we also look to them as inspiration for courage for the big work that still needs to be done. The rage we have been suppressing is simmering, and we can either allow it to eat us alive.. or we can use it as fuel to move mountains.. to create the country we know deep in our hearts is possible.

So we wish you a happy women’s day, and we are here with you, ready to answer the call to break even more cycles for us and the future generations.
