Releasing the past!
This week inside the Diamond program we are clearing and releasing!
We are saying goodbye, farewell to old reoccurring thoughts and feelings around past events, people, items and more that are no longer serving us! ✨

5 is the number 💗
The number of months we tried and failed at conceiving before I asked for help.
It is also the number of weeks of no sleep worrying if we would ever be able to conceive.
5 is also the number of times the specialist told me I wouldn’t be able to carry a baby because of my back injury.
And also the number of months of inner clearing and healing I did to make space for my first baby and release those heavy beliefs.
5 is also the number of hours of meditation practice I did in a week to connect with and visualize him.
Oh yes! 5 is also the number of hours my self critic voice took over each day - my conditioned self - telling me none of it would actually help - as well as critical thoughts about my body and my inability to conceive.
5 is also the number of weeks I was pregnant when we found out this little life was growing inside me :)
It’s also the age my son Ocean will be next month. Making me a Mummy exactly 5 years ago.
It now all makes sense that I would be invited to speak at the Love Yourself Fertile Summit Series this month.
This topic stills hits me deep.
There are many of us that go through the “trying”, the wondering, the waiting, hoping, the stress.. in silence.

Although I have many evening rituals, sometimes all we need is the right 1.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stretched or shattered, check your pulse for 1 minute and wait for a physiological response (yawn, sigh, deep breath or swallow) from the body to let you know you are re-connecting your heart and brain. That’s it!
After some heavy realizations during the day, uncomfortable processing and deep release (AKA lots of tears), I had a warm shower, checked my pulse, added a nice sleep essential oil blend to my wrists and temples, a sip of ashwagandha tea, some gentle breathing and abundance affirmations as I went to bed.

A few years ago, I was sitting in my garden with my two beautiful boys. It was a perfect sunny Caribbean afternoon. There was a slight breeze and we were all laughing and enjoying the moment.
Within a few minutes, I heard my mind wandering, once again, to the dreams on my heart.
My thoughts went to thinking about the life I had been striving for and the vision I held for myself, my family and this world.
The truth is. There was nothing wrong with my life. It was great!
That's where many of us live. In these zones of competence or excellence, doing most things quite well with many of our basic needs met... feeling moderately happy.
In fact, that's how most people live their lives. Moderately happy.
As I was day dreaming about all the things on my heart, there was a loud voice in my head saying "Just be grateful Marissa", "You have so much to be thankful for". "Your life is great". "Why aren't you happy with what you have?".
But there was a bigger part of me, something at my core, that yearned for more.

You see, we have been wired for lack.
We have been conditioned to believe that enough is ... well enough.
That we should be humble and content and grateful with what we have.
But here's the thing we often aren't taking into consideration.
Our souls came here to grow, to evolve, to dream, to expand. We came here to connect, come alive, to feel joy and exhilaration.
And I believe the dreams we have on our hearts are all part of that.
It doesn't mean we aren't grateful, or at peace or content with where we are. It just means that we listen.. to our heart, our soul's desires and those nudges that guide us to EVEN more epic moments in life.

Ok back the story :)
So there I was sitting in my perfectly wonderful garden, with my 2 perfectly wonderful children, living a perfectly wonderful life and I was asking, when will there be more? When will the dreams on my heart come to fruition!?
As I asked myself a few questions, it dawned on me that if I haven't jumped, stepped or even tip toed in, ticked the box, done the thing, asked for the support, moved through the blocks, helped myself and fully shown up .. yet (I was almost 38 years old).
Well, what makes me think I will? Ever. Period.
I mean, if I haven't yet. WHEN would I?
My conditioned self stepped in and said "Oh you'll do it don't worry, just not this month"..
But THIS TIME I wasn't listening. Oh no. That voice was now way too familiar to me.
I started talking out loud to my conditioned self... those parts of my that were doing all they could to keep me safe, hold me back and convince me that I didn't need to and really shouldn't strive for more.
"No, really" I said. "This time give me a date and time because you have told me this so many times before. You said it when I was 13 and then again at 22. At 25 you said it again, that you were going ALL in to chase your dreams and THIS was the time. But still nothing happened.”
It was in that moment that I realized the TRUTH.
If I kept listening to that voice that said I will do it later, if I kept doing my best to stay humble and content, or tell myself I will make the changes later, feel better later, do the thing on my heart LATER....
That I undoubtedly would find myself another 10 YEARS down the track, still in the same position I was back then.
How old did I need to be before I would take the reigns of my life. To live in the fullest expression of who I am and live my life fully and wholly? 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90???
It was in THAT moment that I decided.
I was READY.
It took money to join the mentoring program I wanted to do that really felt RIGHT to me.
It also took effort.
It took time that I didn't have.
Money I didn't want to spend.
Also, I had a 2 year old and a 6 month baby.
Yep! I had to reschedule my time and really somehow make this a priority, when truly THEY were my only priority.
But I was READY!
Mainly because I was tired. Tired of waiting and wondering and hoping and wishing and feeling disappointed, in myself because I wasn't allowing myself to really go all in in this life and come ALIVE!
Looking back to a few years ago, there is no doubt in my mind and heart that the reason for my deep fulfillment today comes from following that voice and moving through life aligned with my zone of genius.. which I just like to call FULLY aligned with all the areas of my life and bringing my best self to all that life places in front of me.
So my question to you is.
How long until you'll be ready to go all in? How long until you will ready to show up fully in all that you are and live this life in an expansive, alive and fulfilled way?
Because it's all waiting for you.

The Butterfly Hug is a super simple self soothing technique that you (or your friends, partner, kids!) can do anywhere, any time! 💗
As your arms cross the mid line of your body, it helps to balance both hemispheres of the brain.
Version 2 (chest tapping) was originally created for use in EMDR Therapy (specifically for trauma) but the bilateral stimulation of both of these exercises is brilliant to help you move through daily overwhelm, panic, repetitive triggers or dissociation as well.
An IMPORTANT aspect of this technique is the accompanying BREATH - which I did not get to show you in these 8 seconds.
💫 It’s important to breath deeply during the exercise - in through your nose (if possible) and out through your mouth.
Of course my son Ocean took it to the next level with his Butterfly dance moves 🦋🕺🏼

When you’re not fully present in your body, you’re more likely to feel anxious, overwhelmed and highly stressed.

I often like to look through the eyes of my 20 year old self.
🌺 When I wake in the morning, I look at everything through the eyes of my younger self and imagine that I don’t know a thing about my life today.
I either wake up to the sweetest kisses from a 2 year old, cuddles from a 4 year old or I check out the bedroom with first time eyes before I walk out into the living room to see the incredible view from our home and see my husband for the first time - “whoa is that my hot man!?” I love the way some things totally surprise her and leave her in awe.
I end up pinching myself with joy every time I do this exercise, just thinking that my 30 something year old self created this life for us!
As happy as she is, she is also surprised that we live so far from the people she loves the most, but when she sits down in her home office to the work that lights her up, or hits the beach with her new friends, she realizes the joy that is here and knows that she can visit her overseas loves soon which makes her smile.
- I love this exercise as it reminds me of all that I have and also opens the door for discussion on what could be changed in my life for the better.
- I’m able to get really clear on the life my younger self thought she may settle for and the life she would have dreamed of and longed for.

Are these true? NO!
If they were, I would never have been able to do/be/achieve all I have in life so far.
Do I still question them? Sure!!! But know I know how to shift and reframe them, they just aren’t as repetitive and they don’t keep me stuck anymore.
The truth is, they are OLD limiting beliefs created from literally only 1-2 experiences I had in my life a LONG time ago.

2. Ask yourself. Is it true? (If you answer YES, please message me). If your answer is NO, move onto step 3.
3. Write down the ACTUAL truth about you.
4. Reframe the thought. Create a new positive thought to replace the old one.
5. Write down your new thought and say it out loud every time the old negative thoughts pops in.

Taking care of myself doesn’t mean “ME first” 🌺
It means “ME too!”
For so many years I was confused about what self care actually was.
Everyone was talking about it and I honestly didn’t really get it.
I had tried all the usual “self care strategies” to feel good and take care of myself and I still found at times I didn’t feel that great.
I would eat well, exercise, drink water, take a bath with rose petals and would still cry into my pillow. Why!?
Because I wasn’t adopting self care that was surrounded by a giant bubble of self LOVE.
I would still beat myself up for things, get caught up in people pleasing, not do the things my heart wanted to do and I let my thoughts fly all over the place, keeping me back and holding me down.
The difference between my bubble bath self care and actual SELF love is..
Self love is completely and utterly solid..
Which means Self care is simply an extension of that.
When we find the Self love, Self care becomes just an essential part of loving ourselves.
Just as we would care for someone else we love.
Here’s the thing..
Our intrinsic worth and our level of self care are closely related.
When we show up in Self love, Self care can look like just about anything that supports and nourishes us from the inside out:
Here are a few more that I love:
+ Showing up in my playfulness
+ Taking big leaps
+ Looking after my mind
+ Taking care of my body
+ Taking inspired action
+ Shifting negative thoughts
+ Hugging my boys
+ Gratitude for my life
+ Inner healing/Meditation
+ Shifting limiting beliefs
This is so much more than the self care I used to trial in the tub (I still love a good bubble though! Don’t get me wrong).
But this is pretty good right!??
Never again will I ever go another day without self care.

***Can I share something vulnerable?***
This is the first time I have worn a bikini in public since my 2nd baby was born.
This photo was taken literally just the other day.
You see, I did not "bounce back" when I had my babies.
I never got my body back.
I fell in love with my new one!
I did not have a weight goal, skinny jeans I needed to fit back into, or even a feeling of where I wanted to be physically when Ocean was born.
When I was pregnant I was highly focused on the health of my baby. Everything I put on my body or didn’t put on my body, whatever I ate or refrained from eating was with him in mind.
I’ll never forget when Ocean was born, even 2 months before he was born, I began receiving emails asking when I will be ready to go live on television/video to do "zero-12 weeks" post natal workouts for Mumma’s.
Zero to 12 weeks post natal workouts. Zero ..... to 12 weeks. Zero! Just saying that again in case anyone missed it.
If you are a Mum, you understand me questioning this.
* 1 week after I had Ocean I emailed them and said we had the baby! The response was great when will you be "workout ready"
* 2 weeks after I had Ocean, I emailed back and said not YET.
* 4 weeks after I had Ocean, I wrote to say I still wasn’t READY.
* 6 weeks after I had Ocean I said sorry.. not EVER.
I had been a pre and post natal fitness instructor for a long time and I LOVED sharing body and mind balance and wellness with Mummas. I still do !
But here’s the thing I realized.
My health was/is important.. and so were the needs of my Mummas who were looking forward to my videos.
But.. I needed healing. Inside and out…
And essentially I believed they did too.
So what did my body look like?
* My belly had excess skin because I made a human. Hello !
* My b***s were full of milk because my baby needed to eat. I needed to focus on eating and drinking for THEM to make sure my milk supply was enough for our 8lb baby with a large appetite.
* My heart, mind (and bits) needed to heal from the birth.
Also...
I just WANTED to be with my baby.
So..
I started my "PLAN"...
To heal
To open my heart
To get grounded
To accept support
Then to get strong and functional...
But it was a longer road than I had anticipated.. and than anyone anticipated for me.
At the end of the year after having Ocean, we were soon pregnant with Koa. I felt great.. I felt ready to have another baby.
Did I look like my pre-baby self. No!
Did I feel like my pre-baby self? No!
Should I have? No!
Here’s what I focused on:
1. My own mental health, sleep, wellbeing, self talk, body love
2. My baby’s needs. Loving him, feeding him, keeping him clean. Loving him, feeding him, keeping him clean. Being with him fully when I was with him.
3. My physical health. Healing through the use of food. FOOD that came from ALL places.. Aunty’s (thanks Aunty Ginna!), Friends (Mishy, Laura, Nades, Kelly), Family (Dad, Mum, Aunty Angela), Phil (thank you!)… anytime I could get my hands on cleansing juices, smoothies, teas, supportive cooked food I did..
4. When I was ready I began WALKING for gentle exercise and a few little floor based strengthening circuits here and there.
This is for you Mama.
Mama who looks at herself in the mirror feeling a shadow of who she used to be. Mama who looks back to her pre-baby self wondering if she will ever be "that" again.
It’s ok. It's ok to be here.
It’s ok for you to leave your pre-baby body behind.
It’s ok to love where you are.
It’s ok to give enough to yourself so you can give to your babies.
It’s ok to use your tribe, village, family, friends to support you as you begin finding your feet (and even LONG after! Thank you Mary and Aunty Leslie for the yummy soup this week when the boys had the (non-rona) flu.
Fast forward almost 4 years down the track. I am a fulfilled, present, healthy, loved, strong, energetic and happy Mum.
I DIDN'T bounce back.
But I have grown, stretched, cracked open, healed, accelerated AND succeeded in so many ways.
No I never hit the charts again as a TV presenter. I never did another live workout event and I never went back into post natal exercise.
But I found ME. I found the most love I have ever known and felt and I now share my stories and support women to rise to their own greatness.. In their hearts, minds and bodies.
Do they need to look a certain way to reach their highest level of living? No!
They only need to be willing to leave all they knew behind and get ready to dive into their new beautiful YOU!
So here I am. This is me, almost 4 years after having my 1st. A mum of 2, a wife to this incredible human and still leaping forward.
Is my body PERFECT? No!
Do I still have a long way to go in my fitness and health? Yes!
But my decisions for my body are now based on so much more than they used to be.
My body is healthier and worth so much more now than I ever felt when it looked all lean cuisine.
Am I ready to be stronger, healthier, more energetic and reach a higher level of wellbeing? For sure!
But I am not just in this for ME.
I want every woman in the world to know their worth, just how beautiful they are, how incredible their bodies are, how amazing they TRULY are..
And it really has nothing to do with their abs 🙂

This is how we reset! 🍃
These last few weeks have been full.. the volcano, the ash, the flooding, the people and animals in need, family love and concern. Plus businesses, babies. All the things.
Ocean had been inside for over a week and a half and it was taking its toll on the our little nature boy. Koa is teething and Phil and I were at the point of exhaustion a few times along the way to today.
There are points in all of our lives where we need to keep going, in a full kind of way. The kind of way that we, ourselves look up to and want to embody more of.
That’s where these little resets come in handy! Aligning with our bodies needs, giving our 1st, 2nd and 3rd brains a beautiful boost and allowing the space and clarity for a nervous system reset and a mental cleanse.
There is also something a little less scientific about a grab and go Aloe leaf from the garden that makes life better.
Ocean loves to pick them, now understanding to gently tear the leaf from the bottom of the plant to keep it happy.
The garden romp about, the thanking ritual, the family agent in the making of the drink. It all leaves us feeling completely nourished!
Personally, I LOVE the crisp, refreshing Aloe juice slushy. With or without extra fruit or veg for flavour. I just love the Aloes and can literally feel the goodness moving through me.
The boys love the smoothies as it distances them from the texture and taste of the Aloes.

🍏 APPLE ALOE SMOOTHIE
1 small leaf of aloe flesh
1 small apple, skin removed and roughly chopped
7 ice cubes
1/4 cup filtered water
Blend 40 seconds and serve immediately.
🍓 ALOE BERRY SMOOTHIE
1/4 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup coconut milk
1 large leaf aloe flesh
1.5 frozen bananas
1/2 cup water
