Bryson City is also home to the famous Polar Express and if you haven't done this holiday event with your kids you are truly missing out. My kids ask to go back every year! While many areas of NC have been devastated by Hurricane Helene we are feeling very grateful our cabin is in good shape with power and water. Our understanding is the cell service and internet are still out at our cabin. Many businesses in the Bryson City area seem to be resuming business, like the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. The roads getting to and from us are still a bit of a mystery and we will post again when we know more! Our thoughts are with everyone dealing with the horrific aftermath of this devastating hurricane.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the residents of Western North Carolina who have been impacted by the devastating effects of Helene. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad has been working tirelessly to restore a sense of normalcy during this challenging time.

We are pleased to announce that passenger rail operations from Bryson City to the Nantahala Gorge will resume on Monday, September 30. Reservations are now available.

We understand that current road conditions may prevent some passengers from making their reserved trips. Please call 800-872-4681 to modify.

Some good news from the NC mountains!

Update!

NOC Nantahala River Outpost was barely impacted by the storm. It’s truly a miracle and we are open (for now) at Rivers End Restaurant, the General Store, Outfitters Store and other amenities at our main campus in the gorge. ‼️Please do not travel as we don’t know road conditions. This is simply to let our local staff and the community know we can offer a hot meal and ability to charge electronics. ‼️
