Today in Dr. Svendsen's intermediate German course, students learned to use subjunctives by designing rollercoasters! The rides included a Baldwin Wallace roller coaster that starts at the Union, goes all the way up the Marting Bell Tower, and (four years later) finishes with a coffee at the Starbucks on Front Street!

The final film, Hirokazu Kore-WANDAFURU RAIFU (After Life) will be screened Friday, November 11th at 7:00 in Surrarrer Auditorium, Telfer Hall.
Don't miss this 1998 Japanese classic which asks the provocative question: if you could select just one memory from your life to take to the next, what would it be?
Film: "Wandafuru Raifu" (After Life) If you could choose only one memory to hold on to for eternity, what would it be? That's the question of this fantasia where the recently deceased must select a single cherished moment from their life to be recreated on film for them to take into the next world.
Interested in teaching English in France for a year? Join us this evening to learn about the Teaching Assistant in France Program. Many BW students have been awarded TAPIF assistantships over the years. It's not too early to start planning!

Don't miss this German classic, one of the best films of the 80s, where an angel gives up his immortality to find love in a still divided Berlin!
Film: "Der Himmel Über Berlin" (Wings of Desire) Damiel is an angel over Berlin who can hear the thoughts of the people living below. But when he falls in love with a beautiful trapeze artist, he is willing to give up his immortality and come back to earth to be with her.

Film: "Orphée" (Orpheus) Join us for Jean Cocteau's update of the Orpheus myth depicting a famous poet scorned by the Left Bank youth and his love for both his wife, Eurydice, and a mysterious princess.

Mounia Meddour’s 2019 debut feature film Papicha was Algeria’s contender for an Oscar and winner of two French César awards, but its release in Algeria was canceled by authorities without explanation. Please join us on Zoom on Tuesday, March 1st at 7PM to learn more about the context of this film and recent Algerian women’s filmmaking in the wake of its Civil War (1991 – 2002). This program isn’t just for students interested in teaching, but a way of gaining international work experience, acquiring French language skills or even fluency, and an opportunity for travel and cultural immersion (all while getting paid and often with housing assistance).
BW has a strong track record of its French majors and minors being awarded Teaching Assistantships in France. It’s not too early to plan! For the 2022 – 2023 academic year, applications are now open and are due on January 15th.
