CUBAN NOSTALGIA CUBANA CARNAVAL HABANERO CUBA HAVANA CARNIVAL 1970- 1975 WALL ARTPrinting from color transparencies. Color transparencies from 1970-1975 scanned at the highest resolution using a professional Nikon 9000 scanner. Introduction to the collection: In the early 70s, my father Valeri Gantchikov, a Soviet civil engineer, worked in Cuba. We moved to Havana to live with the whole family. A professional artist and photographer, he has created a huge collection of color and black-and-white transparencies and negatives that are shown in Cuba during that era. I scan transparencies in the highest resolution, restore and publish them.Then, 50 years ago, the magnificent colonial Cuban architecture was still in excellent condition. Fifty-year-old photographic documents of Cuba are very interesting not only for the new generation of Cubans as a historical and cultural memory, but also useful for the architect and designers for the restoration of destroyed houses, exteriors and interiors, carnival carrosses and costumes. I deliberately didn’t trim the loose edges of the film to create a vintage feel for my shots. I like to watch the traces of time on film.
Impresión a partir de transparencias en color. Transparencias en color de 1970-1975 escaneadas a la resolución más alta con un escáner profesional Nikon 9000. Introducción a la colección: A principios de los 70, mi padre Valeri Gantchikov, un ingeniero civil soviético, trabajaba en Cuba. Nos mudamos a La Habana para vivir con toda la familia. Artista y fotógrafo profesional, ha creado una enorme colección de transparencias y negativos en color y blanco y negro que se muestran en Cuba de esa época. Escaneo transparencias en la más alta resolución, las restauro y las publico. Entonces, hace 50 años, la magnífica arquitectura colonial cubana aún se encontraba en excelentes condiciones. Los documentos fotográficos de Cuba de cincuenta años son muy interesantes no solo para la nueva generación de cubanos como memoria histórica y cultural, sino también útiles para el arquitecto y diseñadores para la restauración de casas destruidas, exteriores e interiores, carros de carnaval y disfraces. Deliberadamente no recorté los bordes sueltos de la película para crear una sensación vintage en mis tomas. Me gusta ver las huellas del tiempo en una película.
