Newborn nappies are even cuter that any other cloth nappies ๐Ÿ˜

They're also easy to use! Little Fern newborn nappies are all in one nappies with a bamboo/Cotton core. Their double gusset helps retaining those potential poonamis! Their lining has a stay dry layer, perfect for your baby's sensitive skin.

Don't forget you don't need to do ANYTHING to the nappies once they're dirty. No soaking, no scraping poo, just put nappy in your basket/bag/etc waiting for washing day.

You can find Little Fern newborn nappies on our website with 15%off and 6 prints to choose from. Link in bio ๐Ÿงก

๐Ÿ‘Yes, yes you do!

Nappies, just like any other clothing items, have been produced in a factory and then packed and shipped. They will then go to the stockist and then to you! Not only it goes through plenty of hands, it will have residue of fabric dyes, etc.

๐Ÿ˜ ALWAYS wash your nappies at least once before putting them on babies bum โœ”๏ธ

Did you know we also stock nappies with solid prints?

Solid prints are less common in the cloth nappy world but these nappies are equally beautiful! I'd imagine a lovely "Ivory" being worn by a little bridesmaid at a wedding ๐Ÿค or what about a gender reveal using "Peach" and "Azure"? ๐Ÿ˜

Do you like solid prints? Let me know below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Since I've become a mother, I've found myself constantly comparing what I do /how I raise Amelia against other Mums. And for what? For nothing I would say...They're raising their children, in their environment, with their own personalities, culture, habits...Now that I'm on an official countdown to go back to my "day job", I'm trying to let it all go and focus only on myself and my daughter. She's thriving, I'm surving motherhood (willingness to repeat is a good sign right? ๐Ÿคช).

How do you feel on this Monday morning? Let me know ๐Ÿ‘‡

This year autumn officially begins on 23 September 2022 and ends on 21 December 2022!

Autumn has never been my favourite season (I'm a spring/summer kind of girl!) but I feel that it's now a season to prepare for Amelia's birthday and Christmas! Great British Bake Off and Strictly have started too so it's now time for hot drinks and blankets on the sofa ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚

I've also decided to adapt graphics to this new season, I get bored easily! Hope you like it ๐Ÿงก

Cloth nappies by are pocket/Ai2 Hybrid nappies. This means that you can use nappy as a pocket nappy OR as a all in two nappy.

Since we've started weaning, I've been using this nappy as a pocket nappy. I find it a lot easier to clean shell if the inserts are inside the pocket.

Which one is your favourite print? ๐Ÿ˜

We are back!!

Even though I've been around, it's been nice to have taken a break and enjoy life without a phone constantly in my hands!

We'll be keeping sales on until Sunday, 25th September! On Monday 26th September, prices will be going back to Retail Prices ๐Ÿ˜Š

Regarding shipping, I've had to increase price of Royal Mail 2nd class small parcel. I used to buy postage online, which is cheaper, but it wasn't tracked so I couldn't prove I sent parcel unless I'd go to the Post Office and ask for a proof of postage. Reason why I bought postage online was to avoid going to the Post Office. This way, I've had to increase price as I'll be going to Post Office to buy/pay for postage. (Please note I've had a couple of parcels gone missing when selling on Vinted and I simply cannot afford to have your parcels gone missing!). Evri shipping stays at the same price as it is a fully tracked service.

Cloth wipes are the best way to ease you in using reusables on your baby.

No chemicals on your baby's bum and no stinky bin! I don't know about you, but we struggled to find "nice" smelling disposables wipes when Amelia was born. We started by using cotton and water but when we moved on to "normal" wipes, we hated their smell. It was even worse than the nappies (at least p**p didn't smell then!) So once we swapped to reusable wipes, it was lovely that there were NO smells. We did and still use Poppets solution as I just love the smell on them and how soft it leaves the wipes.

Once you start weaning, wipes gain even more importance as you'll use them to wipe hands, faces and pretty much everything...If your baby is like mine, food ends up all over her head, behind ears, you name it, I'll find food there (including my own hair!).

Do you use different wipes for hands/face and bums? Or you just use same?

We stock reusable wipes by different brands with different fabrics, some of them even come with their own bags which is super helpful. Take a look on our website!

If you use cloth, night nappies might have been the "last" part of clothing that you introduced. For some reason, we seem to think using cloth at night will be difficult.

I thought it would be tricky as we were having leaks almost every night while using disposables. And we had that kind of leaks that meant clean pyjamas, clean sleeping bag and a clean sheet had to be always on the side, ready for a mid-night total change!! We decided to take the plunge once I started to be confident with day clothing and thought it couldn't get any worse at night!! And it didn't! And might be a coincidence, but I think Amelia sleeps better when she has a cloth nappy on! (we use disposables while away from home)

We'd advise you to use specific nappies for night time, also known as fitted nappies. These nappies are fully absorbent and require you to use a waterproof cover on top. As simple as that!

You can find night nappies/fitted nappies and wraps on our website from TotsBots, TJs and Kings of my Castle.

Do you use cloth at night?

Nappy pods are a favourite of mine!!

I use them to store nappies at home and have used them when travelling as packing cubes.

As they fit 5/6 nappies, I use one pod a day and make a selection of nappies I need on each day (usually one AIO, one AI2 and three pockets).

Do you like using nappy pods? Let me know below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Wet bags are an absolute must have in any household with little ones!

You can use it to store nappies and wipes, weaning stuff, toys, etc...

Bags with two zips/compartments are especially good out and about as you can store dirty and clean nappies/wipes separately.

Cottons 40 vs Cottons 60...the big question!!

Take a look and see for yourself! I've seen countless times people worrying about energy Costs and someone advising to use bio instead and drop temperature to 40C. That will work cheaper for everyone, but it won't be significant for everyone! For me, it isn't. I prefer to save my money switching detergent for a cheaper one instead of brand one. That saving will also reflect on ALL my laundry loads, not only for nappies. You can also save by washing less often, but we know it's not feasible for everyone .

Are you surprised by these results? Let me know below ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

The big one....the ENERGY cost of washing nappies!

Calculations for these costs are quite tricky for several reasons: each person seems to use different cycles, machines, etc. These are not absolute values but will give you a good idea how much each cycle/load is costing you energy wise!

Next post will be about 40C vs 60C while using Bio detergent for 40C and non Bio for 60C! It should be out on Wednesday (my eyes need a break from looking at spreadsheets!)

Are you surprised by these costs? ยฃยฃยฃยฃ

Photos from Cloth Nappies for All's post 20/08/2022

Washing nappies cost...Water Costs!!

Water, together with detergent, is one of the most important parts of washing nappies.
Cloth Nappies need to be thoroughly cleaned.
As mentioned in the posts, you should use a programme that uses enough water to wash the nappies properly and that won't be a "water saving" programme as the eco programmes. Best programme to use for the main wash is the Cottons one.

Regarding prewash, you'll have to check settings of your machine and see which one will suit your needs best. Prewash programme should be a cold one that lasts between 30-60minutes. For these calculations, I've assumed you're using Cottons 20 as your prewash as this is a cold cycle and although is a long one, doesn't use much energy, manuals always state its water and energy consumption making it an easy one to compare amongst different machines.

Do you know how much you pay for water? Are you surprised with these values? Let me know!
