The Financial Planner Life Podcast
The financial planner life podcast
I’ve been suprised by how much I have enjoyed my time in , I can 💯 see why it’s an attractive place to live and work.
I will miss this morning view! 🥹
Impressed with the quality of firms that I have met, not gonna lie I wasn’t expecting that! 🤣
The energy is electric! 💪
If you are considering Dubai as an option drop me a DM, happy to share my experience and the realities of a ‘proper job’ out here.
I’m heading to the beach this morning 🏖️ for a day of relaxation before I’m back in the UK tomorrow ☔️
I’ll be catching up on all the messages and emails Monday. 🤓
Have a great weekend. 🙏☀️
I’m really interested in the international financial advice scene. 🤩
It’s really exciting! 💪
The old image of ex-washing machine salespeople flogging high commission products in the UAE has long gone! ✋🛑
It’s a serious fee-based business out here, with firms gaining licenses across the globe. 🌎✅
The world is becoming a smaller place. I genuinely believe the of tomorrow will want to service clients internationally across borders, and why not?!
I’m speaking to more and more planners with client books intrigued by the ability to continue servicing UK clients while seeing out the rest of their career in the sunshine. Drop me a DM if this is you…
So when Chris Ball MLIBF DipFA PETR from Hoxton Capital Management invited me out to meet the team and see for myself just how professional and client-centric their company is, I jumped at the chance.
A young dynamic business, 6 years in with $1.6 Billion AUM and redefining international advice in line with UK expectations…. Impressive! 😎
After spending the day with them yesterday, meeting multiple stakeholders and joining in their celebrations of the recent addition ‘wealth flow’ to their client app, which by the way is a brilliant tool for clients, I’m more convinced than ever that the international advice market is about to boom! 💥
It’s got my creative juices flowing, so I’m parked up in the sun at the beautiful Dubai Marina to get on with a bit of work.
What’s your take on the international advice market?
Have an awesome day
Great day filming with today!
“I think the power of video and audio is that it allows you to connect with people, without actually realising that you are connecting”
This week’s guest on the Financial Planner Life Podcast is Peter Komolafe from The Conversation of Money, a podcast and a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing the truth about investing and all things finance.
One thing that really frustrates Peter is the rise of the ‘have a go financial expert’ on social media!
You know the guys - the ones that aren’t qualified and always tend to wax lyrical about how much money they’re making trading forex whilst sipping cocktails on the beach.
This isn’t Peter…
Peter has a genuine passion for the financial wellbeing and education of his listeners, with a solid background of working within financial services. He also holds DipFA level 4.
An honest, compassionate and incredibly hard-working guy, Peter shares how he has used the power of social media to get ahead and why he believes that financial coaching should be part of every financial planner's marketing strategy.
Peter also reveals some absolute gold around the realities of building a personal brand, coaching programs, and how to harness the power of YouTube and podcasts to build deeper relationships with your audience.

This weeks guest on the Financial Planner Life Podcast is Taylor Beavis from directly authorised IFA 'Universe Financial Advice'
Taylor Beavis is quite unique, at the age of 25 he is running his own directly authorised IFA practice, after speaking to several IFA business owners he quickly established that client relationships are everything and having ownership of these will ensure that his business grows in value over time, so for Taylor self-employment was the only option.
His chosen route into the profession was challenged numerous times, being told that he’s too young and perhaps he should cut his teeth as an administrator first, he is extremely pleased he didn’t take this advice and encourages anyone who feels they have the relevant skills to push on into a client facing role.
We also discuss why there is a distinct lack of LGBTQ+ financial planners how this fits in with ESG, and why those in the community require a different approach to financial planning.
Other discussions include:
• Why charity is at the heart of his proposition, and he shares why having an altruistic purpose is so important when running your own business.
• How he achieved CAS Status in 4 months self-employed, it doesn’t need to be over complicated.
• His strategy for generating new clients, great tips that anyone can implement.
• How PR helped him raise his profile during lockdown.
• How his clients can keep physically and financially fit by using ‘Richer Fit’ – great benefit!
I really enjoyed talking to Taylor, lovely guy with a good heart and lots to share.

Are the Apps taking over?
On this weeks podcast we discussed the rise of challenger banks and reasons why consumers love them.
Challenger Banks are becoming increasingly formidable competitors to traditional banks and have begun to capture significant market share.
Furthermore, the lines between banks and other consumer financial services providers are blurring, with several alternative lenders and robo-advisers beginning to offer banking products to their customers.
But will it negate the need for face to face financial planning? Jade Rose thinks not.
Financial planning offers a high level of emotional attributes such as personal connection, trust, and out reach.
And this has never been more obvious than right now in this current climate.
how many of your clients have benefited from human connection recently? I would love you to share some of your stories in the comments section. 🙏

One of the topics that came up in episode 2 of The Financial Planner Life Podcast was the lack of black financial planners within the industry.
Emmanuel Asuquo shares 3 reasons to why he thinks this is.
There is a big push on attracting more women to the profession, and rightfully so, but what about other minority groups? it doesn't seem to get the same attention.
Finance professions are notorious for consisting primarily of white males. as the great wealth transfer continues and assets shift from the boomer generation to younger generations, we will see a greater need for diversity within the industry.
the racial gap is closing, with the 38 to 54 age group predicted to be just 52.4% white by 2035.
so what could be done to create more diversity within the financial planning industry?
This week on the financial planner life podcast I am joined by Emmanuel Asuquo - Financial Adviser, motivational speaker, TV personality on Channel 4’s ‘Save Well, Spend Better’ and all-round lovely bloke!
One thing that shines out in abundance is Emmanuel’s kindness; he genuinely wants people of all backgrounds to better themselves and his financial education brand ‘The Eman Effect’ is helping him share his message worldwide.
Emmanuel cares deeply about his community and spends a lot of his time giving back to those in need through financial literacy workshops, regardless of net worth!
In this podcast, we talk about his career journey from cashier at Barclays to becoming a self-employed financial planner, how he passed his exams with the help of “Pineapple Chunks” and the realities of being a black man in a predominantly white industry.
We also cover the power of personal branding, how he got to over 16,700 followers on Instagram and overcoming the fear of posting on LinkedIn, something we can all relate to! Give it a listen on Spotify, Apple and the website ( link in the bio.
