National Foundation Day 🇰🇷

Since its designation as a national holiday by the Korean Provisional Government in 1919, Koreans celebrate 𝑮𝒂𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒋𝒆𝒐𝒍, or National Foundation Day, on Oct. 3 to remember the first Korean kingdom Gojoseon set up by the mythical founder of the Korean nation Dangun in 2333 B.C.

The holiday's name literally means "Opening of Heaven Day" and refers to the descent of the godly prince Hwanwoong, son of the sky god Hwanin and father of Dangun, onto Baekdusan Mountain to live as a person and enlighten the human world. 🌟
