If you are responding to Debby, you may be exposed to a great deal of heat stress. Extreme heat can result in occupational illness or injury. Heat can also increase the risk of injuries in workers as it may result in sweaty palms, fogged-up safety glasses, and dizziness. Find tips to staying safe in the heat: https://bit.ly/3fst693

Tonight was a long night for our guys at Skowhegan Fire and all of the mutual aide departments that responded to assist. The crews did a fantastic job of containing the fire to the building of original despite the close proximity of neighboring structures and the volume of fire when the initial crews arrived on scene.
Thank you to Alโs Pizza in Skowhegan for bringing dinner to the scene for all of the crews that dropped everything to respond from work or home.
Photos were taken after the fire was contained and crews were cycling through rehab and rotating shifts searching for hotspots to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. Great job to everyone that responded!! Teamwork makes the dream work!!๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป

So sadโฆ if your child or a child of a loved one has been newly diagnosed with autism, please learn about the risks and dangers of elopement along with the hazards of water bodies. Angel Sense is one of many fantastic tools available along with window and door alarms and or locks. It is also really important to teach your child to swim as early as possibleโฆit could literally save their life. Most autism elopers seek out water bodies and are often found there. Know your area, know your water bodies and nearby pools, and get to know your local first responders. It literally takes a village in some cases to raise our kids and the more people that get to know them, the more people can work together to look out for them. Newly diagnosed families are the most at risk because every child is different, our kids donโt come with a handbook, and they donโt teach parents anything about autism or other intellectual challenges and the dangers and risks that go along with that diagnosis.
Family, friends, and first responders are mourning the tragic death of a 4-year-old girl who drowned yesterday in her neighbor's pool.
Another Maine Police Department supporting the Blue Envelope program. Please donโt hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need an envelope.
The Lewiston Police Department has partnered with the Down Syndrome Advocacy Project (DSAP) and their Blue Envelope Program. The program is designed to help build a relationship between law enforcement and drivers with special needs during an interaction. The envelope has information for the driver about what they can expect during a traffic stop, and can be presented to the officer to indicate that accommodations could be helpful during the interaction. There is no need to register, and all components of this program are voluntary and self-implemented.
If you would like to pick up a Blue Envelope for yourself or someone you know, they are located at the Lewiston Police Department lobby.
For more information or locations to get a Blue Envelope, check out https://dsapmaine.org/
