A 29-year-old newly recruited teacher at Chindindindi Primary School in Lundazi District has committed su***de.
Eastern Province Acting Police Commanding Officer Davies Simwanza has identified the deceased as Winston Longwe of Sido area in Chipata district.
Mr. Simwanza told Breeze FM News that according to reports, Mr. Longwe did not report for school on Tuesday this week and that when the school administration tried to contact him, his phone went unanswered.
He explained that it is believed that Mr. Longwe was in the habit of absconding from work and that on Wednesday this week, he was summoned by the school’s head teacher who was advising him not be absconding from his duties without any word to the authority.
Mr. Simwanza stated that the father to the deceased, Aaron Longwe disclosed that he received a phone call from his son complaining that he was warned against absconding from his duties.
He added that the father to the teacher then travelled from Chipata to Lundazi and that upon reaching his son’s residence, he found him hanging and dead.
He says police suspect no foul play and that the body has been deposited at Lumezi Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
