I was not the original artist but putting my dads teaching to it. I know that it was one of the last few diamond willows my dad had gotten. As he aged we stopped doing or going to our traditional years harvests. I am so thankful for dad, grandpa, grandmas teaching. Plus all the other relatives who seen an opportunity to pass on their knowledge for another generation. Prayers to all my loved ones.

Happy March! The visitor center is now open 7 days a week from 8:30am - 4:30pm. If you haven't seen the work by Indigenous artists that the park store is now supporting, swing by any day of the week and take a look!
Beavers are some of the rarest creatures to see in the park, but at this time of year it's easy enough to spot the evidence of their presence. If you're snowshoeing or walking the trail, take your time along the water - you never know what you'll see!
In honor of Women’s History Month, today we are highlighting Nicole Mann, the first Indigenous woman to go to space! Nicole Mann is a remarkable woman who has made significant contributions to the field of space exploration. Mann has achieved the rank of Colonel as a United States Marie Corps Pilot, is an F/A-18 Pilot, and is a NASA Astronaut.
On October 5th, 2022, she commanded NASA’s Space X Crew-5 abord the Crew Dragon Spacecraft Endurance which successfully launched and docked with the International Space Station where it is currently docked. On January 20th, 2023, she made her first spacewalk outside of the ISS to prepare the space station for the installation of new solar panels, becoming the first Indigenous woman to walk in space.
Nicole Mann is Wailaki and an enrolled member of the Round Valley Indian Tribes. In honor of her mother and her heritage she took a dreamcatcher which she received as a child with her as she embarked to the ISS. Nicole Mann is trailblazer in space exploration and has paved the way for other women and Indigenous people to achieve excellence in traditionally male-dominated fields like space travel and space science. We commend Nicole Mann on her bravery and determination as an astronaut and wish her well her in travels above the Earth and hopefully one day to the Moon.

“It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.” —Charles Dickens
The sun's not shining hot yet, but park ranger Gabe Yellowhawk caught it looking beautiful reflecting off the water. The Circle will give you a new reason every day to enjoy the winter views!

Cole has been stepping out of his comfort zone. Touching smelly/dirty shell and cleaning the shells. He is getting them ready for selling smudge shells. $5.00 single and $10.00 for double shells. His goal is to get a new Godzilla, and spending time facing his fears.
