Luvie's Lessons: The purpose of our life is to love!

Everything in our life is shown to us to choose what we love! Life is just like shopping from our favorite stores' inventory, and we're supposed to choose what we love from the inventory.

But here's the thing- Are we too busy listening to all the distractions of what we don't love? If our life isn't exactly how we want it, we may be accidentally looking at all the bad things of life's inventory. We've allowed these bad things to distract us from all the things we love and that bring us joy.

So how do we make our life what we want it? We choose all the things we love and immediately turn away from things we don't love. Sounds easy but can actually sometimes be hard.

Have you or your kids been in a funk or feeling negative energy in some way. Have you wondered how to get out of it right away and move towards a positive space?

A great way to do it: The Love Game

Here's a fun game to play with your kids or as a family. We play it often and have named it the Love Game.

>Say one thing you love out loud to your kid/spouse/family member/friend.

>Then they say something they love out loud back to you.

>You take turns over and over until you're smiling, laughing, feeling good.

*If you don't have anyone with you, list all the things you love to yourself. Really think about it, look all around, and list over and over in your head or out loud till you're feeling good!

We play this game before bed, so we can all have great dreams.

We sometimes play it to start our day off right.

We play it when something bad or weird happens to us, and we need to change our vibe.

We play it when one of our boys' gets hurt, and we need a healthy distraction to move on.

We even play it in the car, kind of as an eye spye to all the things we love.

We even played this game to help us make our decision to move to Kauai.

We definitely recommend to add it to you and your family's bag of tricks. We hope it helps you as much it has us! ☀️

Remember only love brings what you want to you, so choose all the things you love 💛

Luvie's Lessons: Feelings

Everything in life has to do with our feelings. Evey decision we make in our life comes from how we feel. Whatever we want, we want it because we love it and it makes us feel good. It is positive energy and it feels right. Whatever we don't want in our life, we don't want it because it makes us feel bad. It is negative energy, and it feels off.

This is ABSOLUTELY the number one thing we teach our kids. We teach them to feel energy and to be aware of how they feel. If they feel positive energy, embrace it and enjoy it. If you feel negative energy, be aware, listen to it and walk away immediately. No matter what, walk away.

After many discussions and experiences with this, our kids now tell us on their own when they feel positive or negative energy. When they're enjoying a new friend, they may tell us he/she has great vibes or when they get to a place that feels a little off, we may hear, "I felt negative energy so I left."

Always just sharing what works for us, but we'd love to encourage you today to have these talks with your kiddos too. Teach them to be in tune with how they feel and to know what to do when they feel something either good or bad. Because most importantly, when they know how to get to a place of good feelings, the more they'll continue to feel that way.✨

Aloha! We go by Luvie & Captain for our books. We thought we'd share a little more about us!

Luvie and Captain are mom and dad to the beloved Rocky and JoJo. They are a tight knit family of four that love seeking adventure in their home of Hawaii and around the world. From family surfs, to skate sessions, to dance parties and more; their number one priority is making memories as a family.

Luvie was an elementary school teacher, and Captain was a boat captain on the seas of Hawaii. Luvie and Captain
strive to combine their love of teaching, adventure, and a little bit of magic, into all their books.

You will almost always find Luvie and Captain chasing their boys into the ocean to surf, hiking up a mountain, or cruising through nature in their renovated sprinter van. Rocky and JoJo's close bond as brothers and best friends is something they are most proud of. Their out of control energy (and hair), hilarious dance moves, rascally ways, and excitement for life, is something to be recounted.

Together, we're grateful to tell our family's story through fictional tales based on real life adventures. ✨
