ETDS 2022 Enschede

Hey, I'm Dave and I'll be the competition commissioner during the ETDS together with Alen. Furthermore, I’ll be trying to keep the jury happy so that they can adjudicate all your dancing.
I’ve been dancing since I was 14 as part of my education and once I started dancing, I just couldn’t stop. Ever since I’ve been a student, I’ve joined all ETDSes and now it is my turn to help with the organization of the awesome tournament.

Heyhey, my name is Harriët and I'm in charge of promotion this ETDS. This entails that I'm responsible for every and all things visual, from badges to the floordeviders. Furthermore I've been managing the socials and posting these introductions ;)
As a kid I loved dancing in general and had a specific weak spot for the fanciness of Ballroom. My problem was that I didn't dare to dance in public, so I never took any classes. By the time I started university I had somewhat overcome this fear and told myself to just go for it. I started dancing at 4 happy feet and instantly loved it. However it took me a further 2 years and a fantastic and enthusiastic new dance partner to convince me that joining an ETDS was a good idea. And ofcourse it was, a bit overwhelming the first time, but great none the less. The atmosphere at these tournaments have helped me to grow beyond my insecurities around dancing, and turn me into the "latin diva" I can be today.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone again and hope we can create the atmosphere we've probably all missed dearly!

Hi, I'm Hein.
Together with Tim I'm responsible for the logistics of the tournament, including for example the food and the everything in the dancing hall.
I started dancing when I was 14 years old, since this was normal where I come from. The group of people I was with kind of stuck to dancing at the school we started.
When I bacame a student I continued dancing and started dancing *TDS tournaments, which is now 6-7 years ago, which I will pobably keep on doing for quite some time.

Hello I'm Tim. Together with Hein I am responsible for the logistics of this tournament. This includes the floor, the lights and the music installation.
It took a quite a while for me to develop any kind of rhythm, I did enjoy dancing immediately. A lovely partner that did not mind definitely helped.
In the rest of my dancing career I keep getting convinced to try different styles, like salsa, lindy, ballfolk and fusion. Some of those actually stuck.
I have been to a lot of TDS's over my career as a dancing student, so I am looking forward to seeing what we make from it.

Hello all! My name is Esra and I am the treasurer of the Whitsun ETDS 2022 committee. I am responsible for all matters regarding finance off the tournament, so that means keeping the budget up to date, doing all the money transfers, etc.

During a gap year, before I started studying, I lived in Barcelona for a while, and while going out there I learned the very first salsa basics. So once I moved to Enschede, I decided to join the dance association 4 happy feet to continue dancing, first only salsa but quite coincidentally I ended up going to an ETDS with Fiona (as she already told in her story) and was introduced to the wonderful world of ballroom dancing. Since then, I have been dancing actively, also going to NaDB dance competitions regularly. However, ETDS tournaments remain special to me, as the atmosphere and seeing and dancing with everyone there is a one-of-a-kind experience. I’d like to share the wonderful moments I have encountered myself by organizing a tournament for you guys. Hope to see you all there!

Hi! My name is Hannah and I am the communications officer of the Whitsun ETDS 2022. I started dancing ballroom as soon as I started studying at University Twente. Though my studies are over, I still keep busy with lessons and competitions, including hosting my very first ETDS! I'm looking forward to seeing you all.

Hi all!
My name is Janine and I’m the secretary and one of the vice chairwomen of the ETDS committee :). I started dancing in high school nearly twelve years ago after my now fiancé (who is also part of the ETDS committee) highly encouraged me and some friends to try out ballroom dancing. When I started studying I joined our university’s ballroom association 4 happy feet and in 2016 I got to experience my very first ETDS in Berlin! The whole experience of dancing with different people, the competitions and all the parties created such a vibe and atmosphere that I’m so happy to be able to try and bring that to the very first ETDS after all the corona struggles. My main responsibilities within our committee are to make sure everything said is being written down somewhere it can be found and to help distribute the workload of the chair.

Hi I'm Fiona the chairwoman of the committee organizing the 2022 Whitsun ETDS in Enschede. Five years ago me and a friend decided on a whim we wanted to participate in the Whitsun ETDS in Aachen. The only thing was, as novice salsa dancers we didn't exactly know how to dance ballroom. So in three months we worked our asses off and succeeded in learning the basics of ballroom before the ETDS! We had so much fun dancing that we decided to keep dancing together and later even compete in national competitions as well. Because of this experience ETDS' have a special place in my heart, which is why I was excited to help organize the upcoming ETDS! As chairwoman I am responsible for leading meetings, internal communications and the planning. After more than two years without ETDS' I'm looking forward to being able to welcome you all in Enschede soon!
