One of the most over looked potential fire hazards in the home is the dryer vent. Having this duct cleaned and inspected yearly is one of easiest steps in preventative maintenance you can do to keep your home and loved ones safe !
Here’s a great visual example that will help identify the harmful buildup in your fireplace. On the left is the swept aged surface and on the right is the dark black in color with a fuzzy or moss like texture that is known as creosote buildup.
A chimney cap is an absolute must when keeping your fireplace and flue clear of any unwanted debris, excess amounts of water or critters from making their way into the home.
Although this is a gas burning fireplace it is still a good idea to have it swept down before each season to clear away any unwanted guests or debris that may have accumulated over the time it wasn’t in use.
