Last week we protested the Republican assault on our postal service. Here is some of the background. http://ips-dc.org/how-congress-manufactured-a-postal-crisis-and-how-to-fix-it/
How Congress Manufactured a Postal Crisis — And How to Fix it An unprecedented congressional mandate threatens the Postal Service's ability to continue to provide good jobs and universal service.
Great information and leadership from Joforstowe on voting this summer and fall.
We are honored and excited to officially announce Jo Sabel Courtney's campaign to be our next State Representative in Montpelier. Jo has lived in Stowe for nearly 30 years and has advocated for Vermont and Stowe. It's time for a new beginning.

We must continue to ensure accurate representations of legislative activities in Montpelier are conveyed here in Stowe and we don't fall prey to Trump style approaches of using fear tactics that are baseless to prevent progress.
ACTION NEEDED: We have been heartened by the outpouring of support in Stowe and elsewhere for racial justice and for folks wanting to become active in helping our wonderful community become more diverse, equitable and inclusive. As we’re focused on racial and economic inequity, we must also acknowledge its link to climate change. Natural disasters hit those with the least the hardest, and the climate crisis, if allowed to persist, could leave our society even less equitable. Simply put, leaving the climate threat unaddressed makes racial and economic inequity harder to solve. If you're for racial justice, then you're for climate justice.
Fortunately, there is a bill in the Vermont Senate right now that needs your support, and quickly, before the Legislature recesses for the summer this month. The Global Warming Solutions Act puts Vermont on a path in line with our neighboring states and crucially, creates a coherent strategy for Vermont to build more resilient communities while reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. It’s one of the best pieces of climate legislation that we’ve had in years, which is why it passed overwhelmingly by a vote of 105-37 in the House back in February.
Take ACTION: Please call or email Senator Rich Westman to ask him to prioritize the bill, concur it with the House version, and pass it before the June recess.

"Climate change threatens to change the face of Vermont and, for that matter, the world, more than anything else short of a world war or pandemic. The passage of a Global Warming Solutions Act... will be a defining moment. It will mark the day Vermont government decided not to neglect the interests of our children and started the journey to protect our future."
Thank you, David Yacovone. Vermont and our world thanks you. We are grateful for your leadership in Montpelier. 🙏
Get moving on climate change, for the sake of our kids “I’m gonna report you guys to DCF!” he said. I asked him what he was talking about and he said, “You should be reported for child neglect. You guys in
So just voted says YES to cannabis (S54 bill) and the council the bill creates to regulate, but yet last week voted NO to the Global Warming Solutions Act stating the council the bill created would cede legislative authority. Hmmm.... So it is ok to cede legislative authority in some cases but not ok for the environment?
Progress!! Kudos to our state representatives (Matt Hill, Dan Noyes, Avram Patt, Lucy Rogers, and Dave Yacovone) for voting to override Gov. Scott's veto of the minimum wage bill. The bill raises the state's minimum wage from $10.96 to $12.55 by 2022.
Only one representative from Lamoille County voted to sustain the veto, Republican Heidi Scheuermann from Stowe.
As Vermont Digger noted, "The vote marks the first time that the Democratic Legislature has successfully reversed a governor’s veto pen since 2009, when the House and Senate overrode then-Gov. Jim Douglas’ vetoes of both a state budget and Vermont’s landmark same-sex marriage bill."
Vermont Minimum Wage Set To Rise After House Overrides Scott Veto Updated 3 p.m. Vermont's minimum wage is set to rise over the next two years after the House voted Tuesday to override Gov. Phil Scott's veto.
Once again, Stowe isn't on the board. Our representative - Rep. Heidi E. Scheuermann voted 'NO' against historical veto proof Global Warning Solutions Act. The vote was 105-37.
Heidi is on the wrong side of history and environment. Despite Heidi's vote, we do care about the environment and believe we must act.
Climate matters in Stowe too. Vote Blue in 2020!
Vermont House approves climate bill requiring state to meet emissions goals In a 105-37 vote, the House passed the 'Global Warming Solutions Act', which would open the state up to lawsuits if it fails to meet strict emissions targets.
