If you want to improve your acoustic guitar tone for free. Tune you low Bass E string and B string in the green on your tuner like you would usually do but have it barely hit about once ever three or four seconds in the first bar of FLAT. By doing this, it will increase the Bass response and by doing the same tuning on the B will take away some of the harshness on a bright guitar and any guitar and it will be more clear and more warm if you do this.

You are probably wandering why it sounds like Grunge music? Because it was recorded in a studio in 1995 at the height of the Grunge movement. I was 25 years old at the time. I thought we had something pretty good so I kept up with the ADAT tapes for 25 years at my desk or in the closet. Always in the air conditioning but after storing them for 25 years, there was a better chance that they would not play but they did. I got divorced and I was digging in a box about 3 months ago and found all three tapes and they all three played and decided to do something with them. I did not want them to get destroyed because that is part of my history and reminds me of a really great time in my life.
How we all met? Honestly, I don’t remember but we started out as a power trio with no singer. We were called then, “The Average Joes” because me and the guitar player were both named Joe. Even though we had the name first, I think someone else has it now so I did not want any issues so I just called it, “Average Divorced Guy” because I thought it was clever and I just went through a divorce 3 years ago.
We had a great start as a band. There was a person I have never met that had a big warehouse in town and I don’t know if he wanted us there at night as a theft deterrent or what but this person did not charge us rent all! If you can believe that. There was no plumbing so that was interesting, if I knew who he was I would give him a big thank you for letting us set up our stuff there, leave it and not have to pack it up every night. We recorded the music at Zanbeck studios that is no longer around and the studio engineer named Randy was a great person and we hit it off very well. I owe him a thank you. Then just recently, I had it mixed and mastered at Crystal Studios by Ray. I need to thank him too. There are very few people with ADAT machines anymore in the world and he just happened to live 30 miles from me. Go figure. The crazy thing is we had two excellent bass players back to back. It’s hard to find one great bass player much less two back to back and then the next band I was in we had another great bass player weird. I know people say, “don’t live in the past” but this was a very happy time in my life. My life has been very tough the last 3 years and reminiscing about good times what is wrong with that? It’s the good times that can help you overcome adversity and depression. Moral of the story. There is nothing wrong with thinking about past, great times in your life. That maybe the best medicine you can have.
