The colors are crazy ❣️🌺🌸🌼💐 dahlias and a pumpkin leaf 🍃
Veg Harvest. Going to make cucumber tomato salad, ratatouille with rice and fish tonight, and vegetable curry tomorrow 😋
Vegan Celery Soup 🍲🌿
High in Fiber, low calorie, and good source of potassium. Add some pepitas on top for added magnesium.
As I navigate my menopause journey, my magnesium gets depleted causing jitters and irregular heartbeat. The estrogen hormone replacement can cause constipation, and so this soup is super beneficial.

Lots of different colors of dahlias this year 🌸!
Changing up how we do things…learning to grow more in the space we have. This 3x3’ raised lettuce bed will be getting some shade under the hoop canopy where melons 🍈 will soon be covering overhead. 🥬

I don’t follow any particular “diet” or fad food plan. After 25 years in the food industry internationally- from agriculture to industrial manufacturing and retail food service-I’ve learned to take only the good parts of all guidance (for me) and to ditch the rest.
Sifting your way through the endless noise of what’s “healthy” takes not only behind-the-scenes knowledge most consumers and eaters don’t always have, but also a degree of using your own intuition about what your own body needs. And that can change. Especially with age!
As a general rule, Mediterranean is a staple go-to food choice for me (with the exception of any farmed fish, pita bread and excess cheese) but, for the most part, it works for me.
There is a lot of plant based items included such as vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs, and of course olive oil as a healthy fat option. Fresh grilled fish is a staple, with a smaller assortment of meat and cheese than in the typical western diet menus.
In many cases the items in a Mediterranean diet are also less processed, and fresh 🥬
Typically the portions are smaller (think mezza and small plates)…for me it’s been rather effortless to maintain average weight eating this way 90% of the time.
Weight gain is one of the many challenges that women over 40 may face as our hormones change 😕
Added benefit: Mediterranean food is always a great choice when making dinner reservations with friends with various food intolerances or preferences - with a little something for everyone! 🎉
Shout out to some of the most beautiful dining views, restaurants, hotels, and people we visited in Santorini 🙏🏻❤️ we will be back!

Creole Shrimp 🦐. So easy! Sautéed onion, garlic, bell pepper, asparagus, creole seasoning, diced tomato, vegetable stock, and a little bit of gluten free flour to thicken. Serve over white rice 🍚. 30 minute weeknight dinner 🥘
The first dahlias this season. They are one my of my favorites for about 25 years and so easy to grow. I didn’t dead head these this year so they aren’t as large as previous but beautiful for a floating bowl with candles as a centerpiece 🌼
Movie Night 🍿 🎥 on the lawn…blow up screen from Big Lots for $99 and projector for $79. Add a Bluetooth speaker and hook it up to your laptop. This is one of the best things I bought all summer 🤩
Summer fish stew. Shrimp, Halibut and Mussels in Garlic, Wine, Tomato broth with herbs from the garden 🪴. Gluten free garlic bread for me (Celiac!) and spinach artichoke salad 🥗😋. Such a quick and easy thing to make on a weeknight!
Summer time dinner. Weekend protein warrior. Local tuna, grilled w mango pepper salsa, salad, quinoa & brown rice
Summer hands 🖐🏼. I stopped wearing shoes and gloves in the yard this year. So much more of a grounding experience gardening bare 🌿
Sod for the side yard. First some phosphorus for the root growth, then rolling out the green carpet…then long watering for about 2 weeks. 🌱💧💚
