Our "church" in Bellingen today, beautifully vested in green for the Sunday of All Saints. С праздником всех вас! 🙂❤️☦️
Our parishioner Thaddeus has just finished making another three of these excellent folding wooden stands for icons and for reading, bringing the total to six. They are easy to store and transport and pleasing to look at. Some have our icons on them, and some are used by the choir. ❤️☦️
Today the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the second finding of the relics of Saint Symeon of Verkhoturye. It was on this day in 1989 that the relics of the saint were returned to the Church, having been wondrously preserved from destruction during the Soviet years. The relics are now again enshrined at the Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Verkhoturye. We greet all our parishioners and friends on this lesser patronal feast-day of our mission, and look forward to the day when we will have a church of our own. Righteous Symeon of Verkhoturye, pray to God for us!
Save the Date!
26 - 31 December, 2024
Registrations will open soon via the Syezd website (still under construction).

If you are bringing something to share at our common meal after Divine Liturgy this coming Sunday, please remember that as it is Great Lent we are eating vegan food. 🍅🍆🥑🥦🥬🥒🌶🌽🥕🫒🧄🧅🥔🍠🍏🍎🍐🍇🍉🍓 Things that require minimal preparation are best. If bringing things that do need a little preparation or warming up, it is best to start this as soon as Divine Liturgy finishes - or even a little earlier. That way tables can be set and lunch served as soon as our "church" is packed away - something that is a big help to families with children and those who travel some distance to get home. 🙂🚗
Tomorrow, Saturday 30 March, will be a Memorial Saturday - a day of commemoration of the departed. As we are unable to have services tomorrow, we will have a memorial litia after Divine Liturgy in Wauchope on Sunday 31 March. A litia is a short memorial service - no more than ten minutes in length. At the end of the litia we will bless kutiya - a sweet dish of grains and fruits - in memory of our departed relatives, friends, and benefactors.
Our new portable altar table and table of preparation were delivered to the Gosford church today. To save time this coming Sunday, Father James read the prayers of blessing over them this afternoon. Here are some photographs with and without the red covers that we will use this weekend. The covers previously belonged to the Holy Theophany Russian Orthodox Church (MP) in Mayfield, Newcastle, that closed down in 2009 - these tables were made to fit them. We also have sets of covers in white, blue and gold. 🙂☦️❤️
This was formerly Saint Thomas' Anglican Church in Willawarrin. It would make a wonderful base for the growing Mid North Coast community. 30 minutes from Kempsey, 1 hour from Port Macquarie, 1.5 hours from Coffs Harbour. Only $200,000! Surely it is possible to raise that amount...

This coming week, God willing, work will start on an important project for our small mission - a portable altar table and table of preparation. The items have been designed - and will be constructed for us - by Michael Sokolsky, and the cost will be shared by the mission and a generous benefactor who has offered to pay half the cost. ❤️ The new items will be easy to transport and store and will help give our "pop-up" chapels more of a proper church feel. We already have four sets of vestments to fit them - red, gold, white and blue. We hope to have them ready for our next services - in Wauchope on Sunday 31 March! 🤞🙂☦️
Радуйтеся, все святые земли Екатеринбуржския! Rejoice, all ye saints of Ekaterinburg! Today we commemorated these saints, amongst whom are the Holy Royal Martyrs of Russia and Righteous Symeon of Verkhoturye.
A lovely little portable church, made from a shipping container, being placed on rented premises in Korea. A nice idea! 🙂❤️☦️
