Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865. This day is a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of Black communities.
Juneteenth highlights the ongoing fight against disparities and inequities that Black individuals and families face daily. At People's Community Action Corporation, we are committed to addressing these challenges head-on.
We provide essential services like our food pantry and community drive-thru food giveaways to combat food insecurity. Our shelter and housing programs offer safe havens, and our energy assistance helps families keep their homes warm and bright.
Join us in honoring Juneteenth by supporting our mission to uplift and empower our community. Together, we can create a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

To celebrate Juneteenth together, we reserved lunch hour on Tuesday, June 18th for a color food party. While our two sister companies, Betty Jean Kerr People's Health Centers and Amanda Luckett Murphy Hopewell Center participated, every site was assigned different colors and encouraged to wear that assigned color.
The site staff photographed are wearing green and are from our S. Broadway site. This site offers a daily food pantry, energy assistance to those that qualify (when funds are available) and housing assistance based on eligibility and available space.

We were so honored to have Dr. Katherine Mathews M.D., Associate Dean of Health Systems Science at St. Louis University School of Medicine host their annual Urban Community Health Distinction Program Dinner at Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers location on Delmar this past Sunday, June 9th, 2024.
As a part of the Urban Community Health Distinction they host monthly dinners at local community partner sites. The goal of the dinner is for their students to gather and discuss any new experiences/projects they have going on and to allow them to get a better sense of what community resources are out there while also physically visiting the space. Ronald Griffin, Chief Operating Officer and Paul Lemon, Director of Emergency Services and Community Initiatives had the pleasure of providing a tour so they’d learn more about our federally qualified community health center and how important it is in the commmunity.
As proud sponsors for the 20th NAESM National African American Leadership Conference on health disparities and social justice, our team enjoyed the entire weekend of activities, May 29th-June 2nd. The conference was more than just a gathering of minds, but more of a catalyst for change. It's a space where all ideas are born, alliances are forged and solutions are put into action. This is a journey we can all embark upon, and remain steadfast in the commitment to equality, justice and inclusion. Betty Jean Kerr People's Health Centers and People’s Community Action Corporation sponsored this cause as this effects all of us who have been down trodden, and we will continue to march forward with unwavering determination.
