BankAccount - A Tony Banks Fanzine
Archive Fanzine produced in the 1990s celebrating the solo work of Tony Banks.
Back in early 1989 at the tender age of 17, I had this crazy idea of starting a fanzine dedicated to Genesis stalwart and solo musician in his own right, Tony Banks. I cannot remember exactly why I started it, but I believed that he needed more exposure than the other member's were getting for their solo efforts at that time (shame, shame Virgin/Atlantic Records!).
Two years previous, I had only just discovered Genesis, via PC's No Jacket Required, and then Invisible Touch.
So, within 2 years I had immersed myself, as I much as I could (and as funds would allow), to buying Genesis' back catalogue, as well as it's member's solo works. It's interesting to note that I was not completely up-to-date with Tony's releases (not having The Wicked Lady soundtrack). But I carried on with my mission, regardless.
We only were able to put out 4 issues, with a moderate number of subscribers. the last issue in early 1992. Fast forward 4 years, and with a rebrand to Strictly Incognito, 2 newsletters were produced. The second issue, I never got to send out!
Of course I was not alone in this venture, and those involved are credited in the scans. But of special mention, Phil Morris and Nik Harber, are to be thanked for their immeasurable contributions.
So, please enjoy a little blast from past. Some of the writing and editorials from me are very hard to swallow, so you have been warned!. I blame it on bad schooling!
Thank you for looking.
Gary.
