NOTICE OF INTERRUPTION TO ELECTRICITY SUPPLY to all of Kaitaia and surrounding districts on Saturday 22nd January and Sunday 23rd January from 7:30am-5:30pm.

Essential maintenance and fault prevention work is required on the main powerline into Kaitaia and surrounding districts.

These areas will be supplied by local generation during the work: Ahipara, Awanui, all of Kaitaia township, Broadwood, Henderson Bay, Herekino, Houhora, Kaimaumau, Mitimiti, Motutangi, Ngataki, Panguru, Pawarenga, Pukenui, Takahue, Te Hapua, Te Kao, Te P**i, Victoria Valley, Waiharara, Waipapakauri, Whangape, Awaroa, Diggers Valley, Fairburn district west of the Kaiaka Hall, Henderson Bay, Houhora Heads, Hukatere, Mangatoetoe, Manukau, Motuti, Pamapuria, Rangi Point, Ruaroa, Runaruna, Thoms Landing, Waihopo, Wainui Junction, Waiotehue and Waitiki Landing. To prevent overloading of the generators and potentially causing a wide spread outage, we ask that people limit their power use for the duration of the work.

In case of an unexpected loss of supply during the work, we recommend you:

* Turn off unnecessary equipment and loads.
* If you are reliant on electricity for medical support equipment, please contact your medical provider for advice.
* Lift and store enough drinking water from personal water wells before the power goes off.
* Fill up your gas cylinder for the BBQ and your petrol tank – remember pumps and EFTPOS won’t work if the power goes off.
* Treat all powerlines and electrical wiring as being live at all times.

We appreciate your support while this planned maintenance is underway.
