We need you 🫵
Interested in volunteering? We are looking for fun, caring and supportive people to volunteer with us. We are an autistic charity supporting women aged 16+ who are going through a diagnosis, are diagnosed or who are self diagnosed with autism. We run regular activities and provide our members with opportunities that wouldn’t usually be accessible for their needs. Duties would include helping at events, both public and private, providing support to our members and making sure our members are always having fun !
If you are interested please send us a message or email us at [email protected]
Thank you ❤️

What a fantastic day 🤩 we would like to say a big thank you to Wayne from Strathisla Inflatable FUN for all his help today and for letting us have this incredible inflatable for our family and friends day ! We raised a total of £404 ! Which is amazing 😍 we hope everyone who came along had lots of fun.

Due to the number of people we are expecting at our inflatable event on Wednesday, we will be operating a sticker system. On arrival you will be issued with a coloured sticker and will have an hour session, once your colour is called we would ask that you leave so that everyone coming can have a turn.
Also 6pm-7pm will be strictly for MEMBERS ONLY.
There will be donation buckets scattered around the hall if you wish to make a donation 😊

Our first ever coffee morning complete ✅ and what an amazing turn out we had ! Huge shout out to all our members who came along and helped with everything, you guys were amazing and without you this wouldn’t have been possible ❤️

We raised over £400, all the money will go towards paying for activities for the group ☺️ Our next fundraiser is in January so keep a look out for more information about that coming very soon.

A gentle reminder that we are an autism charity, run by autistic individuals so our public events may not be perfect but we are all trying our best 🥰

Lastly a shoutout to Fika who donated a whopping £20 gift voucher to our raffle! A great local cafe I’m sure the winner will be thrilled with!

Huge thank you to Will for giving our members a bushcraft and foraging session this evening. Thankfully the weather held up 🤗 we all learnt so much from how to build and lite fires, forage for and cook seaweed, forage for flowers to make tea and to finish off we learnt how to whittle!
Our next event is our fundraiser 🤩 This Saturday, Forres town hall, 10am-12pm. We hope to see as many of you there as possible. All money raised will go towards the cost of activities for our members to enjoy ☺️

A year ago yesterday our beloved friend Lucy sadly took her own life. She was kind, brave, honest, intelligent, genuine and a true friend. She put up an inspirational fight, battling everyday to survive in a world that felt so very overwhelming. Despite facing her own challenges, Lucy always wanted to help others. Her goal was to create a safe space for autistic females to come and support one another, to reduce isolation and improve people’s mental health and well-being. To create a support network for those with similar challenges to herself, to hopefully help people feel less alone. Unfortunately Lucy was let down by multiple services and due to a late autism diagnosis and the wrong support (a common story we hear way too often) Lucy’s time was cut short and she never quite got the chance to turn this dream into reality. Our biggest regret was there not being somewhere where Lucy felt safe, happy, included and supported.
Millie and Rachel continued lucys vision and in her memory created Lucy’s lights. Since starting Lucy’s lights we now know how vital our work is and the impact it can have on people’s lives. We couldn’t save Lucy, however we hope that in her memory we can save lives going forward, making sure that before, through and after the diagnosis process, females are supported and know they are never alone.
Without Lucy this charity wouldn’t exist so we all owe her a massive thank you for thinking of others even when she was struggling herself ❤️

Huge thank you to Outfit Moray for an amazing day of white water rafting ! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, including those who were nervous to begin with. The weather was perfect, some members even jumped off the boat to cool off in the river (videos to follow !!)
It has been a great day and we will definitely be back for another day out soon 😁

Why not check out The Inkwell Moray ‘bread and banter’ session. A small and relaxed group where you can socialise, take part in fun optional activities and also have a bite to eat. This session is free and is available for 16-25 year olds. ❤️

Our next Bread & Banter session is now live to book 🍞🗣

Come along to our relaxed space on Thursday 13th June between 6pm-8pm. For this sessions free meal, you can build your own Pizza to be cooked in our garden ovens, and then build you own dessert. If you want, you can chat to others, use our VR & consoles for gaming, do some crafts, play board games, choose the tunes, and let us know what type of things you’d like at future sessions.

These sessions are completely free to all 16-25 year olds, but we do ask that you book in advance at www.bookwhen.com/theinkwell. We will be keeping numbers quite low, and sessions are very laid back.

Thanks to our funders & supporters: Third Sector Interface Moray & Tesco Extra

MEMBERS PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow we are holding our craft night, this was meant to be held at Elgin Academy. Unfortunately due to exams this has been cancelled. Millie and Rachel have been frantically trying to find a new venue so that our craft night can still go ahead. We have provisionally booked Elgin Youth Cafe, however they are unable to confirm our booking until tomorrow morning. With this being said we are unsure if the craft night will still be possible. If Elgin Youth Cafe are unable to facilitate our booking you will hear from us again tomorrow, cancelling this event. If you do not hear from us again, then our craft night will go ahead at Elgin youth cafe tomorrow evening at 5pm. We hope to see you all there ! Please accept our apologies for this very sudden change. We will be in touch tomorrow if this event will not go ahead.
Thank you for your understanding

Millie and Rachel

Happy world autism awareness day everyone ! For girls with or on the road to diagnosis can be a long and difficult one. From misdiagnosis, to us not fitting the stereotypical presentation, the lack of understanding and outdated research. It can leave us feeling misunderstood and isolated, spending most of our lives never feeling like we fit anywhere. Here at Lucy’s lights we support all our members whether they have a diagnosis, are going through assessment or are undiagnosed. We create a safe and inclusive space where females can come and fit in, find their people and support each other whilst having fun !

Millie and Rachel have been busy tonight in Buckie ! We went to visit our new friends at the Buckie Friendship group. Such a lovely group of people who create a safe space for those with ASN to come have fun and make new friends. They meet every second and fourth Wednesday of the month. We would encourage everyone to go and try out their group !
We can’t wait to work in partnership to create future events. Buckie friendship group is going to help us ensure that Lucy’s Lights reaches out to everyone in moray who would like support ❤️
There were even talks of holding a WOW WALK !! A walk around Buckie with lots of glow sticks, lights and dressing up as a symbol of us carrying on Lucy’s legacy and her shining lights !! Sounds like fun 🤩

Help raise £100 to Help autistic women in Moray 20/11/2023

After the success of yesterday, we are busy planning the next group activity! Currently, we don't have funding so we are relying on the money raised via fundraising.

We have created a JustGiving page so we can accept donations if anyone wishes to support us that way too!

Many thanks from the team at Lucy's Lights ❤️
