Y Paddle was the canoeing club of the London Central YMCA, and it was the only club that offered kayaking in the West End of London!
The last ever pool session took place in the summer of 2017.

Our old neighbours the Pirates are in danger of sinking! Just listened to a local radio interview, and the centre has lost over half of its annual income (£100k) as it's been unable to hire out rooms or the narrowboat. They are obviously keen to get the message out there as well as gratefully receiving any spare doubloons.
Save The Pirate Castle & Boating For All in Camden After 54 years it's sink or swim for Camden's iconic boating charity. Please help us survive the Covid-19 storm & keep our flag flying!

Attention Curryhounds. The Y-Paddle Christmas dinner table is booked.

Jim Croft | British Canoeing British Canoeing is sad to announce the news that Jim Croft has passed away.
There have been several calls for a get-together. The obvious choice would be the traditional Christmas curry/Thai where we book a table for 12 & see how many turn up. It would be good to revisit the Bricklayers as a starting point. As an opening gambit-may I suggest Monday 11th December. If people want to do something sooner, stick it in the comments. Can we get a brief comment if interested in a reunion?

The end of an era.
After 30 years, last night was the final paddling session in the Central YMCA pool. The facility will be closing soon for major renovations & it appears that the future does not include a canoe club.
In this time we have played in the pool; taught eskimo rolls; raced slalom & marathon boats; Visited the Nottingham ditch & Symonds Yat; explored the Caledonian Canal & Stockholm Archipelago; camped in various farmers' fields. But most of all we have made life long friends.
My apologies for omitting names from the following list-please tag friends, add photos & war stories.
