I am a very frequent user of Wikipedia. In past three weeks, every browsing was interrupted by a message requesting me to donate US $3 to Wiki. I had donated $3 dollars in 2015 and 2016.

Day after day, moment after moment, the message has kept popping up until I said ‘Enough is enough! I am better off donating this $3 than going through this trouble.’ I donated and that was it!

Jesus narrated the story of a widow who could not give up on her wish until the judge finally yielded, ‘yet because this widow is bothering me, I will give her justice; otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” Like 18:5

Generally, many of us do not push enough. Persistence means you are not chancing opportunities ahead of those who truly deserve them. Persistence means your need is your lifeline and you will push even if it takes 38 years for the angel to stir the waters. Jesus always comes through, ‘Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” Jn 5:8.

God will surely give you justice; that’s His nature: ‘And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off?’ Luke 18:7.

May the LORD hear your crying out and remove your shame.

Livingstone city is one of the towns in Zambia that really was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The city is indeed tourism centric and the moment travelling was banned by governments in trying to reduce the spread of the virus, Livingstone city’s economy sunk as well. The city depends on revenue generated from the hotels, lodges and guest houses, as the majority citizenry works in this sector.
However, the government of the republic of Zambia through its 8th National development plan has not forgotten the city. The Plan aims at facilitating trade and increased investment by the private sector to increase production, value addition and diversification of goods and services. And tourism was identified as one of the key drivers for Economic Transformation and Job Creation. The plan also states as I quote “Strategy 4: Promote tourism growth: The Government will revamp the tourism sector and support its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, as it presents opportunities for job creation for local communities through activities such as traditional ceremonies, basketry, local cuisine promotion, curio-making, music and dance.” Further, the Government will promote the hosting of meetings, international conferences and events leveraging on recent infrastructure developments, such as the upgraded airports including the Kenneth Kaunda and Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airports as well as increased hotels and conferencing facilities.” Today we also speak of Radison Blue hotel and the Kazungula Bridge which has been added to the tourism grid.
The government has indeed fulfilled its mandate on promoting the hosting of meetings and international conferences in Livingstone as a way of boosting the industry and revamping the city. We have seen over the past few years the Zambia institute of purchasing (ZIPS), Zambia institute of chartered accountant (ZICA), the human resource personnel, the engineering institute, the secretaries etc. all hosting meetings and conferences in Livingstone. This indeed is creating opportunities for the majority citizens of Livingstone as they’re benefiting from these conference, however it is not time to be irresponsible.
The last week of November 2023, ZNBC news reported that Livingstone city ranked high on the prevalence on HIV/AIDS. Dear Livingstone, do not let the government efforts to build our economy feel like they are putting the city at risk. The hotel industry depends on a health work force, as this creates confidence in our customers that they are not at risk while being served by us. Don’t lose it.

GOING FORWARD AND STRATEGIES
People usually get excited when they have travelled out and as such:
1. Human resource to mentor their participants before sending them to these conferences.
2. The organizing committees should avoid parties on the boat cruise and others after the workshop where beer is paid for and people drink to their fill until opportunists take advantage of the victims.
3. May the hotels, lodges and guest houses mentor their employees on the risk of infections- emphasis on health.
4. Pay the participants allowances on the last day.
5. Encourage travelling back immediately after the workshop.
Remember that a health person is a productive person. Do not risk your life over excitement for a moment. Livingstone Go for VCT, play and stay safe always.
The government will continue supporting the economy for Livingstone, be responsible

Dear God, we pray that in the tough times and in the times things might not make sense, may you remind us of the bigger picture. When we have to let go of things that do not glorify you, no matter how much they mean to us , may you remind us of the bigger picture so that we do not get caught up in fear or regret. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

SUNDAY MOTIVATION
We become impatient with constant interruptions when working on a project. Sometimes it's challenging to get back on task when we stop and start again. God asked Jonah to travel to Ninevah, which meant he would lay everything down to continue forward in the work God commissioned. When we surrender our lives to God, we must lay everything down to follow Him. Surrender may require finding a new job, a different residence, or making an immense lifestyle change. We will listen and make necessary changes according to the will of God.
