And just like that Mid-Coast Smackdown 2024 is over and done. We had some crazy weather but we survived! We had kids get to ring bells! We had a record breaking year in the live auction and raffles. The event was amazing and we can’t wait to see everyone next year!

Zoey was a Mid-Coast kid in the middle of her treatment. Check out a current update from her mom. Updates like this remind us why we do what we do!!

From mom: Zoey conquered a huge milestone this month! She ended treatment THREE YEARS ago and all her scans and tests last week came back normal! She is showing no sign of disease reoccurrence after 3 years of ending treatment!! Thank you Jesus!!! 🙏
We are so thankful to have her here with us today!! She is so full of life and the happiest little girl!

As much as we want to think everyone knows about us, we know that they don’t. Let’s take a minute to introduce our organization to our friends, old and new!

Mid-Coast Smackdown was started in 2018 by 2 friends who loved to fish and wanted to find a way to help families of children with cancer. In our 6 short years, we have helped more than 30 families with DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. While preparing for year 7, we have already committed to an additional 8 families and are always on the lookout for families and children who could use our assistance.

In 2024, our board of directors includes 9 members from College Station, San Antonio, Nixon, Pleasanton, and Jourdanton. Our board is all volunteers who come from various industries including Oil and Gas, Finance, Ranching, Construction, Marketing, and various Services.

Our assistance is ‘no questions asked’. Once we help a family, we don’t ask for receipts, justification, or accounting. We have had families who have used our assistance to pay bills, to help with medical expenses, to make car payments, to bridge gaps, funeral expenses, and various other things.

Our main fundraiser is a fishing tournament the weekend after Memorial Day in Port O’Connor, TX. If you haven’t been before, we would love to have you! The tournament weekend starts with a VIP Thursday night dinner for sponsors who have committed $2,500 or more. Friday evening is the Captain’s meeting for all teams. Saturday is the main event, with all teams having to be in line for weigh in by 3pm in Port O’Connor. We conclude the weekend with our awards banquet that includes dinner, raffles, auctions, games, and an amazing presentation highlighting our Mid-Coast kids.

We also have been known to hold and provide assistance to smaller fundraisers including bracelet sales, raffles, plate sales, and auctions. Over the years, we have partnered, sponsored, and supported various other non-profits who have similar goals to our own.
