February 18, 2024 || Sulu, Philippines || The celebration of the 92nd Founding Anniversary of Sigma Beta Sorority.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the Sigma Betans in Sulu organized series of activities. One of the highlights was the conduct of a simple but informative program discussing women empowerment and the significance of wearing Hijab.
This program was concluded by distributing Hijabs and Muslimah Dresses to the participants who are housewives of Barangay Tagbak, Indanan, Sulu. This act of generosity is a manifestation of service which is one of the ideals of the Sorority.
The anniversary celebration is not just about serious discussions and charitable acts. The Sigma Betans along with some Beta Sigmans also took the opportunity to bond and enjoy the beauty of nature that Sulu Province can offer.
A delightful road trip to Parang allowed them to come together and be amazed by the scenery of the white sand and blue sea waters of Tanduh Beach. Indeed, the laughter, camaraderie, and shared memories will surely remain for years to come.
To cap off the celebration, they indulged in a sumptuous lunch at Wan-Wan's Restaurant before proceeding to Maimbung and returning back to Jolo. Wan-Wan's Restaurant is one of the restaurants that cater the foreign and local tourists who visit Sulu.
Happy 92nd Founding Anniversary, Sigma Beta Sorority. Cheers. . .

Commemorating Our Past, Celebrating Our Gains, Charting Our Future
Today, we mark a significant milestone in the history of Beta Sigma Fraternity as we celebrate our 77th founding anniversary. It is a momentous occasion that reminds us of our past, the progress we have made, and the exciting future that lies ahead. Join us as we reflect on our journey, honor our accomplishments, and express our gratitude to all who have supported us throughout the years.
One of the highlights of the anniversary celebration of BSF SULU ASSEMBLY is the feeding activity with parlor games in collaboration with the 72SAC, 7SAB-PNP SAF for the Badjao Children at Tanjung Village, Indanan, Sulu. Our commitment to service and compassion is deeply rooted in our fraternity's principles. Together, we made a positive impact on the lives of those in need, bringing nourishment, joy, and hope to the Badjao community. It is through these acts of kindness that we continue to make a difference and uplift the lives of others.
The celebration wouldn't be complete without the joyous gathering we had at the beautiful Hassiman Beach Resort. The salo-salo was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and shared memories as brothers from different generations came together to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. It is during these moments that we realize the true essence of Beta Sigma, a lifelong fraternity that transcends time and connects us all.
As we look back on our fraternity's past, let us cherish the values that have guided us, the friendships that have been forged, and the legacies left by our esteemed Brothers. We are proud of our gains and achievements, but we are also aware that our journey is endless.
Today, we also set our sights on the future. We are committed to charting a path that leads to even greater success, to creating opportunities for growth and development, and to making a lasting impact on the Tausug society. Together, we will continue to embody the ideals of the Great Beta Sigma Fraternity and inspire future generations.
To all our Sisters from the Sigma Beta Sorority who have been part of this incredible journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your unwavering support and dedication have been instrumental in our success.

The Beta Sigma Fraternity National Assembly Oath Taking ceremony was a historic moment in the fraternity's history, marking a new era of leadership and commitment to their cause. On 1999, the event was held at Malacanang Palace in the presence of then President Estrada, who administered the oath to the newly elected national assembly officers of the fraternity. There were four (4) Brods from Sulu who took their oath, viz.: Brod Sammy Adju, Brod Nazir Ynawat, Brod Bensaudi Tulawie and Brod Dash Adju.
The event was a testament to the strong commitment of the Beta Sigma Fraternity members to their values and principles. The national assembly officers took their oath with the utmost sincerity, promising to serve the fraternity with dedication and integrity.
President Estrada's presence at the event was a clear demonstration of the importance he placed on the fraternity and its role in the community. He recognized the significance of the Beta Sigma Fraternity as an organization that promoted camaraderie, leadership, and community service.
The oath taking ceremony was a memorable event for all those in attendance, as it signified the start of a new chapter in the fraternity's history. "The essence of brotherhood is the bond that exists between brothers, rooted in shared experiences, shared values, and a shared sense of purpose. It is a bond that is built on mutual support, shared memories, and a sense of belonging. It is a bond that is strengthened by the trials and tribulations of life, and that will last a lifetime."

July 14, 2022 | Jolo, Sulu, Philippines. Despite the frequent rain shower due to the entry of two typhoons within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY - Sulu Assembly managed to push through with the planned activities for the celebration of the 76th Founding Anniversary. The local theme of this year's Anniversary is "Showcasing Sulu History, Tradition and Culture focusing on Tadjung".
The Celebration started with the Malmons and Tweets Breakfast Salo-Salo at Shara's Coffeeshop where Brods and Sisses enjoyed the Bang-Bang Sug Delicacy coupled with hot brewed Kahawa Sug and of course the sweet taste of the "Marites Session".
At around 8:50am, the group, composed of all young (ones and once) Brods and Sisses residing in Sulu, decided to leave for Mount Bayug to visit the Astanah Darul Jambangan or the Sulu Sultan's Castle. The Astanah Darul Jambangan in Mount Bayug is a replica of the Astanah of Sultan of Sulu located in Maimbung during the reign of the Sultanate. It was through the initiative of an Officer of Philippine Marines that the replica was constructed way back 2012 in recognition of the rich history of the Sulu Sultanate.
After an hour of cold ride brought by the weather, the group reached Mount Bayug where 1101st Brigade of thevPhilippine Army is stationed. The soldiers of the 1101st Brigade are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the place.
The different landmarks inside the camp were capitalized by the group for the photo ops.
Then, after the photo ops, the group proceeded to Barangay Hall of Samak. Punong Barangay, Ryan Tulawie along with the women in the community of Samak delightfully welcomed the group.
A short discussion on the introduction of the Fraternity with emphasis on the Betan Principle of Service and the rationale of the Tadjung Distribution activity was conducted and the distribution of the Tadjung to the beneficiaries came after.
The Tadjung is the tubular garment of the Tausug and Sama. Woven using the backstrap loom, it features a distinctive central panel, called the punsa, which has a different design thus becoming the focal point of the textile. The way the punsa is positioned on the body denotes status. Single women wear it to the left, married women to the right. Men position the central panels at the back. (Source:ayalamuseum.com)
Then, the Celebration was concluded with two eating sessions. The first session is the lunch sponsored by Barangay Samak and the second session is the Halo-Halo and Pastil time at Shara's upon arrival of the group to Jolo.
Special thanks to the following:
1. Shara's Coffee Shop;
2. 1101st Brigade of Phil. Army; and
3. BLGU - Brgy. Samak, Talipao.
Happy 76th Founding Anniversary, Beta Sigma Fraternity!
Greetings from BSF AA - Sulu Assembly. CHEERS!

Then, we will visit the Astanah Darul Jambangan Replica in Mount Bayug, Talipao and try to hear some insights and stories from Sis Fatmawati Salapuddin about Sulu History, Tradition and Culture.
