What is one thing that you’ve spent money on that you were SURE was going to make you happier, but didn’t? Go check out mine in the comments!⁣

If you follow any kind of budget/financial/money gurus, I can guarantee you’ve heard them try and teach you how to achieve the “financial freedom” that they have. ⁣

They’ll teach you how to live on the bare minimum so you can save as much of your paycheck as you can.⁣

They’ll tell you how to make passive income so you can quit your job to do something you love. ⁣

They’ll show you how they invest the money they have so it grows quickly.⁣

So, being a money guru myself, I thought it was about time that I taught you the REAL way to gain financial freedom.⁣

If you want financial freedom in your life, decide today that money and “stuff” don’t create your happiness - YOU do. ⁣

But seriously, think about it. When you realize that having more money doesn’t make you happier and having less of it doesn’t make you less so, money loses all power over you.⁣

And the interesting thing is, gaining that freedom actually helps you INCREASE the money you have.⁣

When you realize that money/stuff doesn’t affect your happiness, it becomes so much easier to downsize your house and quit wasting all of your money trying to “buy” that happiness with “stuff.”⁣

It’s easier to accept jobs and income that you actually love, or ones that allow you more time with your family.⁣

It’s even easier to invest, because if you lose the money, you understand that you haven’t “lost” any happiness as a result.⁣

Can you imagine a life where money has no power over your happiness? How free would you feel then?⁣

What is one thing you have hustled for in your life in order to be able to buy it? I wanted a prom dress that looked like Belle’s from Beauty and the Beast 🤣, and I made sure I found a way to get it (swipe left for pic!).⁣

I’m not really sure at what point in history it became noble to say “I can’t afford it.”⁣

We say it as if there is a limit to our money, a defined end to how much we can make or have. ⁣

But that’s not true. You can have anything you really want, and I’m going to guess you actually even have evidence of this in your own life. ⁣

Have you ever had a time in your life (as an adult or even as a kid) that you wanted something SOOOO badly, that you went out and found a way to get it? You ate out less, picked up a side job, sold random stuff out of your house? ⁣

When you tell yourself you can’t afford something, you automatically feel restricted. When you do that over and over again, all of a sudden you feel so restricted you begin to feel like you NEVER get to buy anything. When you feel like you never get to buy anything, do you know what you end up doing? Buying a bunch of junk you don’t really want anyways.⁣

How do you avoid this feeling of restriction? You remind yourself that you are 100% in control of what you can have in your life. You can choose, or not choose, to afford anything you really want. ⁣

Instead of “I can’t afford it” ask yourself, “HOW can I afford it?” Then figure out what you’d have to do or give up to get it, and decide whether you really want it or not. Allow yourself to make that decision instead of giving your power up to start with.⁣

Because at the end of the day, it’s really just a choice. A decision you are 100% in control of. ⁣

What uncomfortable emotions are you worried you’ll feel if you start up a side gig? What uncomfortable emotions are keeping you from making your side gig more successful? Drop them in the comments and let’s talk these through! ⁣

There are a million different reasons you’re telling yourself why you can’t have a successful side gig. ⁣

I won’t know how to do it. It will take too much time. I won’t be successful.⁣

Here’s the thing - all of these excuses all boil down to you wanting to avoid uncomfortable emotions. ⁣

So you don’t know how to do it. What’s the real fear? That you’ll do it wrong and feel embarrassed.⁣

It will take too much time. What’s the real fear? That you might have to choose between working and giving up time spent watching Netflix and you’ll be a little stressed. ⁣

You won’t be successful. What’s the real fear? That you’ll make it mean that you aren’t as good of a person because you failed. You’ll feel ashamed.⁣

What if I told you the only thing standing between you and making $100,000 a year was a bunch of uncomfortable emotions. Would you be willing to feel sad/mad/ashamed/stressed/embarrassed for $100,000? Would you be willing to allow those sensations in your body in exchange for the life of your dreams? ⁣

Because I promise you, that’s the only thing holding you back. Do you know what helps with uncomfortable emotions? Learning how to feel them. And also, a coach 😉⁣

What pillar of personal finance are you a master of? Which one do you think you maybe need some work on? Let me know in the comments!⁣

Did you know there are 3 pillars of personal finances? ⁣

Spending Money.⁣

Making Money.⁣

Investing Money.⁣

You might know some people that are good at making money, but struggle with spending.⁣

You might also know people that have their spending totally under control, but have no idea how to invest. ⁣

And you might even know people that know how and want to invest, but they have no money to do it with because they haven’t mastered either the spending or making of it.⁣

But, if you want to be TRULY wealthy in this world, you HAVE to be able to master all three. ⁣

These three pillars are what I address with my clients. We find the weak points with each pillar, and we work on strengthening them. ⁣

If you are ready to finally master your personal finances so you can gain massive wealth in your life, then let’s work together. 12 weeks of 1:1 attention for $2500 or $917/month. Worried it’s too expensive and you won’t make the money back? That’s because you’ve got an issue with one of your pillars. Let’s work on that one 😉⁣

If you’re ready to take your finances to the next level, send me a DM and let’s chat. But hurry! I only have two spots left for July. ⁣

Ok you guys asked me for more ways on how to make money - so here’s how I use passive income to make money in my sleep!⁣

Passive income is income earned using very little of your time. If you’re not out there making the big bucks in a high paid salary (or even if you are!), this will be your secret to achieving large amounts of wealth.⁣

So check out my 5 favorite ways to generate passive income:⁣

💎 Rent out your house. Do you want to know how taking vacations literally pays for my mortgage each year? I rent my house out on Airbnb while I’m gone. Renting out your house - whether it’s renting out a room long-term, or just on Airbnb while you travel - is one of the easiest ways to bring in passive income. ⁣

💎 Create a course. I guarantee there’s at least one thing in your life that you’re like, “I’m better at doing this than 90% of other people out there.” Then I say take that one thing, and create a course teaching others how to do it! What happens when you sell a $100 course to 100 people? You make $10,000. 🤯⁣

💎 Invest in the stock market. When I invest in the stock market, I 100% expect to do almost nothing every year, and have loads more when I pull it out at retirement. ⁣

💎 Buy a rental property. For maybe 20 hours worth of my time every year, I’m bringing in more than $20,000 profit on my rental property - PLUS all of the equity and appreciation on the home. How would you feel about a job making more than $1,000/hr? ⁣

💎 High-Yield Savings Account. Want an easy way to start making passive income? Transfer your savings to a high-yield savings account. It might not seem like much, but increasing your earnings from .2% to 1.2% every year is extra money you’ve earned for doing virtually nothing!⁣

So, what is holding you back from making money while you sleep?⁣

How have you been taught to think about money? What are some thoughts you have that maybe aren’t serving you? Tell me in the comments!⁣

The other day I listened to a podcast from called “Women and Money,” and I thought I’d share some of my takeaways.⁣

Women are told by society that their value and worth are determined by their appearance. I think we all can agree on that. ⁣

But what are men told determines their value and worth? Their ability to make money.⁣

It’s so interesting that men and women are engrained from such a young age to think completely opposite things about the same concept.⁣

Women? Making money will take time away from my family!⁣

Men? Making money will mean I can spend MORE time with my family!⁣

So weird huh? ⁣

I have found in my coaching that a lot of these thoughts we as women have about money are holding us back.⁣

It’s why my clients have no problem spending 4+ hours cleaning the house, but when I ask them if they’d rather work 1 hour and make enough in that time to hire someone else to clean for them, they hesitate. If you’re concerned about time, it should be an easy decision, right?⁣

So take some time today and really think about the thoughts you have about money. Are there some thoughts you like? Others you maybe want to get rid of? I’m even going to give you permission to adopt some of the thoughts men typically hold!⁣

So what would you LIKE to believe about money?⁣

What is one thing that you would normally spend your money on right now, but you can’t because of the virus? I want to hear!⁣

I don’t know about ya’ll, but this virus is really putting a damper on how I spend my money.⁣

We normally budget hundreds of dollars each month for experiences varying from travel, local fairs, children’s museums, and pretty much any new activity that sounds exciting to us.⁣

Now, we are literally not allowed to spend money on any of those things, which has left me with a lot of leftover funds.⁣

As a result, I have found that I am constantly tempted to buy things, simply because I have the money to do so.⁣

But I have to remind myself that if I don’t LOVE the item more than the experiences we used to purchase, it’s still a bad idea to buy it. Spending that money now still means that I will have less money overall to do the things I really love in the end.⁣

So what am I doing with the extra money instead? ⁣

Investing! I put some extra into my husband’s 401k, and I’m pushing hard to save as much as I can to buy another rental property.⁣

Because I know that if I use the extra money each month to invest, then when the economy opens back up, I’ll be able to do even MORE of the things I love! And that sounds way more fun than the random junk I’m tempted to buy from Amazon.⁣

So if you find yourself unable to buy the things you normally would, here’s your reminder that just because you HAVE the money to spend, doesn’t mean you HAVE to spend it. ⁣

I’m curious - When you’re at the end of your life, what do you think you’ll wish you had spent MORE money on when you were young? Tell me in the comments!⁣

I want you to imagine you are having a conversation with yourself 20/30/40 years from now when you are retired. ⁣

You have exactly the retirement you’ve been hoping for, and life’s experiences have made you wise beyond measure.⁣

I want you to ask this future version of yourself, what do you wish you had spent LESS money on when you were my age?⁣

What do you wish you had spent MORE money on?⁣

Because here’s the thing: I don’t believe in eating rice and beans just so you can have a luxurious retirement. ⁣

I believe in spending your money on the things you love most at EVERY stage in life. ⁣

By asking your future self what you should/shouldn’t spend your money on, you can get some great perspective on where your money should go.⁣

So, if you’re wondering should I make that splurge purchase, go on that trip, or buy that thing, just ask your future self!⁣

They are one smart cookie 🍪

I know a magic trick.⁣

It’s how I’m turning my $3,900 stimulus check into almost $125,000.⁣

It’s also how I know I’ll have over $10 million when I retire, even if I don’t save another penny.⁣

So what’s my trick? ⁣

I know how to double my money, every 7 years. Do you want to know how?⁣

By investing. ⁣

When you invest your money making 10% interest (my minimum threshold for any investment I make), your money will double every 7(ish) years. ⁣

That means if I put my $3,900 stimulus payment into the stock market (or any other investment where I believe I’ll make 10%+ interest), by the time I turn 65, that money will have doubled 5 times.⁣

Age 30: $3,900⁣
Age 37: $7,800⁣
Age 44: $15,600⁣
Age 51: $31,200⁣
Age 58: $62,400⁣
Age 65: $124,800⁣

This is the magic of investing. ⁣

This is also why I CHOOSE to live a much more frugal life than I know I need to. Because I know that by delaying purchases for even just a few years, that money can buy me SOOO much more.⁣

Because I LOVE making more money magically appear!⁣

What did your parents teach you about money that isn’t serving you now? ⁣

Swipe to see 7 Dangerous Money Myths You Learned From Your Parents: ⁣

1 - Money is hard to make and hard to keep. - It never sticks around for long.⁣

2 - Having more money will solve your problems. - If we just had a LITTLE bit more money, everything would be better.⁣

3 - Money is stressful. - Were your parents always fighting over money? Were they always worried there wouldn’t be enough?⁣

4 - “We can’t afford ______” - It was always a choice they had no power in. Your parents never presented it as “if we choose to buy X, then we’ll have less money for Y.”⁣

5 - People who have a lot of money are bad. - Having money corrupts you. You have to do shady things to get money, and rip people off to keep it. Therefore, earning money is not a noble goal.⁣

6 - Only a certain kind of people will have a lot of money. - Only people who come from a certain family, who have certain jobs, and certain advantages in life will have money. So why bother trying?⁣

7 - Investing is risky. - If you let go of your money, you’ll never see it again. And it was so hard to make in the first place, remember?⁣

So, how many of these myths did you learn while growing up? And better yet, how many are you continuing to teach your own children?⁣

What is something that you LOVE to spend money on, that maybe others don’t love as much? I can do without name brand clothes, but MAN do I love really nice kitchen gadgets!!!⁣

Yesterday I saw a post from a budgeting account that had a long, detailed flow chart on whether or not you should buy something.⁣

It asked questions like, “Is it on sale? Is it name brand?” And even “Is it clothing for your dog, or Kate Spade earrings?”⁣

It was meant to be a little cheeky, but it definitely came off that there is a list of “acceptable and unacceptable” things you should spend your money on.⁣

I could not disagree with that sentiment any more. I believe there is only one question you should ask yourself when considering a purchase:⁣

Will buying this item prevent me from spending money on something I love even more?⁣

Here’s the thing - not everyone wants to travel the world, pay off their house, and retire early, and guess what? THAT’S JUST FINE.⁣

We are all different, so naturally we will all love spending money differently. You should not feel ashamed of wanting to buy things deemed “unacceptable” or “frivolous” to others. In fact, this is likely why you have failed at budgeting in the past!⁣

So if you love collecting Kate Spade earrings, and you understand that your purchases might mean not traveling as often, or living in a smaller house, and you are ok with that decision, then BUY THE DANG EARRINGS!⁣

Because at the end of the day, all that matters is that you are able to spend your money on the things you love the very most in this life.⁣

Monday was Star Wars day, and so in honor, I’ve got a Jedi Money Mind Trick for all of you in debt out there.⁣

Let’s say you have $10,000 in credit card debt that you’ve been trying to pay off for years now, but nothing seems to be working. ⁣

Do you want to know why?⁣

Because you’ve made getting out of debt your goal.⁣

And why that doesn’t work?⁣

Because your brain believes that getting out of debt doesn’t ADD anything to your life.⁣

You don’t “get” anything for getting out of debt, you only “get” to stop feeling guilty that you have debt in the first place. And there ain’t nobody out there who wants to work harder for nothing in return!⁣

Do you know what is a MUCH better motivator to make/save more money?⁣

LITERALLY ANY OTHER GOAL.⁣

So instead, I ask - What could you ADD to your life if you didn’t have debt payments anymore? Could you afford a trip to Disneyland each year? Or a house with one more bedroom?⁣

Whatever that is, make that your goal instead. Literally label the debt payments in your budget as “Disneyland trips” and truly believe that’s what those payments are for! All of a sudden you’ll magically start spending less, making more, and saving more money overall. ⁣

Because working harder for a trip to Disneyland is SOOO much more fun than working for nothing!⁣

So, what will YOU guys add to your life by getting out of debt?⁣

How are you guys approaching “special days” during this shutdown - birthdays, anniversaries, holidays? (Swipe for my chart👉🏻).⁣

I know that a lot of us have had to find new ways to think about the “special days” that have come and gone while we shelter in place. ⁣

Today is my 9th wedding anniversary.⁣

Normally, I’d be planning our next fun trip, eating delicious food I didn’t have to cook (my favorite kind of food) and most importantly - spending time away from the kids!⁣

This year, I am stuck at home, dealing with lots of pregnancy pain, and unable to hire anyone to give us a break from our adorable-yet-incessantly-needy offspring. ⁣

If I called up my friends and family and told them about my situation, I could get a LOT of pity. And frankly, sometimes that’s what I choose to do.⁣

But do you know what? I am the ONLY person in the entire world who gets to decide what I’m making today mean. And I have a LOT of options - both good and bad.⁣

And when I remember that only I have the power to decide, it makes me feel a little bit more in control of my life when the rest of the world seems so out of control.⁣

So, what are YOU making these “special days” mean?⁣

(PS - as another example, it rained on our wedding day, and I could have made it mean it was ruined, but I decided instead that it would make for the best pictures - and it did!)⁣

What are you guys doing right now to still get exactly what you want in life, despite how everything has changed? I still make sure I get a nap every single day, no matter what because, hello, 🤰🏻.⁣

Did you know that right now, you are 100% allowed to feel like a victim?⁣

You’re allowed to think that the shutdown will drive your finances so far down you’ll never be able to come back.⁣

That your kids being home all day means you can’t have any time to do the things you love anymore.⁣

That you’ll be put on the “naughty list” with your kids’ teachers for not turning in remote learning assignments. ⁣

It’s ok for you to think these things. Sometimes I choose to think them too.⁣

But then I have to remind myself, what is the upside in feeling this way? For me, usually there isn’t one.⁣

So when I decide that I’m ready to quit feeling like a victim, I like to ask myself, “How can I still get exactly what I want from my life?” ⁣

Then all of a sudden I move from feeling like a victim, to overwhelming empowerment. It becomes a puzzle to solve, and my brain loves puzzles.⁣

So what are you choosing to feel today?⁣

Will you share this post to help a loved one? Friends don’t let friends get scammed!

We have an interesting scenario going on right now.

Money being sent out from the government + Individuals bored stuck at home all day = perfect storm for money/ identity scams.

One of the most frequent ones I’ve seen is that you get a call or a text from the “IRS” and they need you to give them personal information or send them money RIGHT NOW or you’ll go to jail!

Do you want to know a secret?

The IRS will NEVER reach out by phone call or text to get your private information. They will mail you something called a “Notice,” and you’ll be able to call or check what’s going on with those Notices by going to www.irs.gov directly.

Now you know.

You want to know why you’re struggling to make more money?⁣

Because you don’t know how to really WANT things.⁣

Here’s a secret: you will NEVER make enough money to buy a beach house until you learn how to REALLY WANT a beach house FIRST 🤯.⁣

We tend to think it’s the opposite, that we need to make the money before we decide we can have the nice things.⁣

WRONG!⁣

You’ve got to learn how to want something passionately, without judgement, and believe it’s just a matter of time until you can get it. Then almost magically you’ll find a way to make the money.⁣
