Just wanted to say thanks, congrats and a big well done to the team on the Modern Gallery (Gallery 5 on the map) at ending Sunday 4th August.

A great showcase of the first 10 years of this special interest group. Chosen quilts highlight the diversity within modern quilting.

A lovely, friendly and supportive group of quilters with bags of knowledge and experience too! Swaps and challenges throughout the year and opportunities to exhibit with the group. Come and join us by adding to your Guild membership!

Loved the Rogues' Gallery around the outside too.

https://www.quiltfestnorth.org.uk/ this October at https://astleypark.co.uk/ in Chorley.

Still plenty of time to enter, as closing date for entries is 31 Aug and specified size is quite small (12.5" x 12.5") so quite doable before the deadline!

Just realised I finished my first quilt 4 years ago this month! How long have you been a quiltmaker?
How has your style changed over the years and what have you learned?

Share your to illustrate your journey!

My first quilt (bottom) was a pattern I found in a sewing magazine by Nettie Petersen (?) but I kept the pattern for a few years before making it.
My last (solo finished) quilt was an improv striped affair for a colleague baby inspired by

I learnt so much on this course with School of Stitched Textiles, I highly recommend their online distance learning courses

Juliet West (StellarQuilts) enrolled with us back in February 2021. She chose to study our Skill Stage 3 Textiles course because she wanted to study machine embroidery and patchwork & quilting.

For Juliet, our textiles course was an ideal choice as it combines the two. Having completed her course Juliet was selected by her course tutor to feature in our 2023 Student Exhibitions Awards, Skill Stage 3 Exhibition. She was put forward in recognition of her progress and creativity. This is her .

Working on a new baby quilt for a friend.
Loving this colour combination!

I've been testing out these new paint markers given to me by earlier this month. They are pretty pastel colours, slightly thinner consistency than other brands I have used, which works well for layering colours and creating new hues. I will definitely be adding them to my stash of acrylic paint markers and use them for my quilt designs.
