The proposal, put forth by the National Electrification Administration (NEA), will also receive support from the Government of Japan under Non-Project Grant Aid.

NCDA awards 10 wheelchairs to Mindoro and Marinduque PWDs through Alpha Phi Omega

QUEZON CITY -- The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) turned over 10 wheelchairs to Alpha Phi Omega today, December 12, 2022 at the NCDA Central Office in Quezon City.

Present in the turn-over where Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Incorporated Chairman of the Board Richard Mark Archie Bugarin, APO National Executive Secretary Atty. Fritz Sapon, APO MiMaRoPa Regional Director Melvin Gabayno together with NCDA Director Joniro F. Fradejas and Ms. Bing Baquir.

The wheelchairs were requested by Ambagan Philippines National Vice President for External Affairs John Mark Forcado, an APO alumnus from Iota Nu Chapter during a previous meeting with NCDA Director Joniro "Don" F. Fradejas.

The said assistive devices will be distributed to the provinces of Mindoro and Marinduque for Persons-with-Disabilities (PWDs) in line with the celebration of the Alpha Phi Omega 97th International Founding Anniversary on December 16.

The NCDA previously granted 10 Pedia Wheelchairs for the province of Romblon.

NCDA Director Don Fradejas assured continuous programs, assistance, and services from NCDA.

Richard Mark Archie Bugarin, Chairman of the Board of Alpha Phi Omega Philippines Incorporated pointed out that APO has ramped up its volunteer efforts to provide equipment and tools needed by PWDs to increase their mobility and productivity in their daily activities.

"Unfortunately, PWDs have poorer health outcomes, lower educational achievements, less economic participation, and higher rates of poverty than people without disabilities,” Bugarin added.

"It is very crucial to PWDs to have access to social protection on an equal basis with others, their special needs do not hamper their contribution as productive and functioning members of society.” APO MiMaRoPa Regional Director Toto Gabayno stressed.

Alpha Phi Omega, Ambagan Philippines and the National Council on Disability Affairs vowed to continue its partnership in the service to PWDs.

‘From beneficiaries to partners:’ 2 OrMin based NGO passed CSO Accreditation

“As we open the doors and give opportunities to not simply be observers and watchdogs, we are not merely beneficiaries, but partners of our local government,” said Oriental Mindoro Vice Governor Ejay Falcon during the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Conference 2022 that formally opened the accreditation process of CSOs in the Province.

Various CSOs including Para Sa Bayan Charity Incorporated and Community Emergency Response and Radio Communications Incorporated, farmers and women associations and other non-governmental organizations gathered at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the conference on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

By virtue of SP Resolution No. 5905-2022 both Para Sa Bayan Charity Incorporated and Community Emergency Response and Radio Communications Incorporated founded by PCMS Melvin "Toto" Q. Gabayno passed the CSO Accreditation by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The conference was held to strengthen the synergy between the government and non-government sectors, bringing the people closer to the political decision-making processes that would empower them and allow them to be directly involved in the development of the province.

As the initiative improves and progresses, accredited CSO groups will have the opportunity to select representatives who will join local special bodies such as provincial council committees, and capacity building activities and groups. Para Sa Bayan Charity Incorporated became member of the Provincial Development Council while Community Emergency Response and Radio Communications got the membership of the Peace and Order Council.
