Cloth - Lucid (Low Sun 2022) - After their debut album back in 2019, the Scottish outfit came back with an EP and it is really, really good. This delicate, electronica and synth-infused dream pop feels cozy and oneiric and it fits the winter moods extremely well.

The Haunted Youth - Coming Home (Dawn of the Freak 2022) - Led by Joachim Liebens, the Belgian band debuted recently and what a debut it is! Winter - lose you (What Kind of Blue Are You? 2022) - Samira Winter’s band has been with us for a while now and I have to say that I appreciate some of their releases more than the other ones; the new one is one of the good ones with this fantastic, moody ballad that instantly catches your attention.

SLEEP PARTY PEOPLE - Tide (Heap of Ashes 2022) - I don’t know the Danish artists’ discography that well, but this new album suggests to me that I should make up for it; I like the multitude of various inspirations they seem to draw from with the dreamy sounds sitting super close to very angry, metal-like disturbances.

Gonemage - Father Time’s Grandfather Clock (Handheld Demise 2022) - Garry Brents is back with his project and we already know what it means: the super chaotic and eclectic mashup of chip tune electronica and black metal is impressive and overwhelming as always, more: http://labandzi.blogspot.com/2022/12/gonemage-handheld-demise-2022.html

Birds in Row - Winter, Yet (Gris Klein 2022) - One of very few examples of traditional post-hardcore I really enjoy; the new album brought this moody and aggressively desperate track for instance.

Florist - 4040 (Kosket 2022) - One of my biggest discoveries this year; the Finnish band are not debutants, but their new album is the first one I get to know; the artists create some very tasteful, highly artistic post-rock that can transform into loud and unsettling passages, just like in this, apocalyptic-sounding track, more: http://labandzi.blogspot.com/2022/12/florist-kosket-2022.html

Królówczana Smuga - To nie jest las dla starych drzew (Sport Patriotyzm Militaria 2022) - Adam Piętak showed probably his best album yet with his signature industrial-filtered freak folk that suddenly became melodic and ready to be sung along, as well as serving some poignant pieces of commentary on the reality around us, like in this song about forests that are being cut down to make room for tractors, more: http://labandzi.blogspot.com/2022/12/krolowczana-smuga-sport-patriotyzm.html

- Kraken (Everything Is Always 2022) - That’s some unsettling music; the Chicago-based artist creates very dark ambient pieces with spoken word and “unsettling” is the lightest word that can be used to describe it.

Piano Magic & Deleyaman - A Fond Farewell (Deleyaman Rework) (Ovariations 2022) - Nobody can make me cry just like the British band - even though that they don’t play together for years now; the ghost rock icons showed a very short EP with two songs from the “Ovations” era and this one is particularly tear-jerking and beautiful.

drowse - Untrue in Headphones (Wane Into It 2022) - This is some, quite literally, slow burner; Kyle Bates’ new album didn’t really appealed to me at first, but right now, I’m so into it, especially this extremely moody, fantastically warm-sounding piece of ambient pop here, more: http://labandzi.blogspot.com/2022/12/drowse-wane-into-it-2022.html

Simon McCorry & Andrew Heath - Rain (A Is for Autumn 2022) - Two thirds of the Konstruct trio are back together; the British artists released an album about autumn and it’s as melancholic and beautiful as you can imagine, more: http://labandzi.blogspot.com/2022/12/simon-mccorry-andrew-heath-is-for.html

Tomasz Mreńca - Past (Torn Soundscapes 2022) - One of my favourite Polish artists, towards the end of the year, released a beautiful album that is all about moody and extremely sad drony soundscapes.
