Update on PDT treatment.

The doctor and I will have a little chat. I followed all recommendations. I stayed out of the sun, and it got worse and worse. I am now on an antibiotic so I don't develop a skin infection.

I was told to stay out of the sun.

I wasn't told THIS ⬇️

"To prevent a severe sunburn-like reaction you must strictly avoid direct sunlight, indirect sunlight through windows and skylights, and even bright indoor lighting for the next 48 hours. Sitting in a dimly lit room away from windows is best. Computer screens and televisions are okay."

I should have done it in the dark!

Basically, because I wasn't given sufficient instruction, I sat in a room with indirect sunlight coming through sheer curtains which i think made this procedure much much worse.

Risks More commonly reported side effects include burning or stinging at the site of treatment, redness and swelling of treated area, and scaling or crusting of treated area.

In the interest of public knowledge...

I have had a few precancerous spots on my face I always thought were just psoriasis. Cheyenne Skin Clinic took a biopsy of one spot and froze both spots, twice.
Yesterday, the doctor thought we should go to the next step. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT).
1st. they clean your face with ACETONE
2nd. you get Aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) painted on your face.
3rd. They sit you under a blu light for 30 minutes.

The ALA soaks into the cells, activated by the blu light it burns the cells off.

Its it painful? Not to have the procedure, but 2 hours later YES! This is not just a sunburn pain. This is deeper. The red areas are the worse, but it hurts even where it isn't red.

MY ADVICE... DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU PURCHASE 2 JELL FACE MASKS PRIOR! One to wear while the other is cooling back down in fridge!
