Congratulations to Keri Garon for being acknowledged for the incredible work you do that an entire country is grateful for.

And to hear why Jody Shulgan nominated you to received a Wonderkind Front Line Workers 2020 Care Bag... I hope I get the opportunity to meet you one day!

"Why did I nominate Keri? She is one of the most dedicated people I know. She lives and breathes caring for people, (and animals). It’s one of her many gifts. You can feel it when you’re in her presence. You can see if from the smile on her face. My sister was deathly ill last year, and she was a support for my family. Even though she wasn’t directly caring for my sister, she’d visit her room on breaks, or before or after her shifts. She communicated and advocated with colleagues. Her heart is huge and anyone who has been in her sphere of care, can feel it" Jody

A few months ago Erika Polidori was training for the 2020 Olympic Games as a member of the Canadian softball team. When the Games got postponed Erika chose to go back to nursing and do her part!

“Working during the pandemic has been tough and mentally exhausting but the resiliency, teamwork, and strength of my coworkers has been energizing and made me so proud. “ ~ ~Erika

Thank you Lorena for nominating Erika to win a Wonderkind 2020 Front Line Care Bag from Random Acts of Magic!

Dr. Adriana Di Stefano is working the frontline and we are thanking her for being AWESOME with a Wonderkind Frontline Workers 2020 Care bag!

Her words brought tears to my eyes.

”COVID has been scary for all of us- the entire world. It’s uprooted how we live and how we interact with others. I’ve never feared for my life going to work- until COVID. I think the anticipation is worse than the real thing. When I’m at work, I remember why I’m here- because there’s someone in front of me who needs help. COVID is unique in that there are currently no specific treatments to cure you, so treatment is “supportive”. I’ve learned that making someone feel heard and listened to can be one of the most therapeutic acts, and so “supportive therapy” has really taken on a new meaning for me. I’ve seen this supportive therapy not only at work, but also out in the community. People are reaching out to those they may not normally reach out to. While COVID may take away our connectedness with people, perhaps it will create some new connections along the way.“
- Dr. Adriana Di Stefano

Thank you Erika Polidori for your nomination.

Joan DeMonte Covid 19 ICU nurse at St Joe's Health Center is our next Random Acts of Magic Frontline worker we are celebrating. Joan was nominated by her cousin Debra DeMonte!

Joan thank you for your bravery and for the impact you are making on so many lives.

We are sending Joan a Wonderkind Front Line Workers 2020 Care package that includes handmade products by women makers, artists and entrepreneurs. 100% Canadian

We invited Joan to share what it has been like for her working the frontlines while we have all been safe at home.

"When the pandemic arrived in Canada and a state of emergency was declared I knew that that things were going to change quickly. I worked at St. Joseph's Health Center Toronto, during the SARS epidemic many years ago and thought "here we go again." We managed two waves of SARS but Covid 19 proved to be very different. Many more people got sick, many more people were dying and it seemed we all would be affected in some way. The fear of the unknown was crippling. I was a little scared in the first weeks but now I have settled in. We go to the hospital everyday put on our PPE and get to work. Nurses frequently work in PPE during the course of our days for the many other infectious diseases that are in the hospital everyday. We will continue because this is what we do. It's what we are trained for. There is no question why we go in everyday. We give ourselves to the profession we have chosen for the protection of mankind and the health of our fellow citizens. It is not difficult it is a choice and we are happy to do it day after day, year after year.

Thank you for the appreciation it gives us the strength to put on our PPE and go into the covid19 rooms." - Joan

RANDOM ACTS OF MAGIC Frontline Winners Alert!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate their Front Line 2020 every day heroes!!!

We are celebrating 12 Frontline workers with Wonderkind Front Line Workers 2020 Care Packages. We chose Wonderkind because it is run by two incredible women Tara Lynn Hall and Shawna King and all their products are Canadian made by women artists, makers and entrepreneurs.

Our first Frontline Worker Winner was nominated by Elle Vilo-Struthers is nurse Brenda Bowskill.

“Working frontline during the pandemic has been one of life’s biggest challenges and biggest accomplishments. Some days are harder than others but everyday presents as an opportunity for personal growth and to help others take control of their own health. It’s ok to need help sometimes and that’s why we as nurses are always there, on shift or not. I feel privileged to have a unique knowledge and skill base that this pandemic has highlighted the importance of. It brings me fulfillment to know that I am valuable and my work is impactful. Although my job includes some very dark days, I feel rewarded to know that I am a resource for patients, families and friends.”- Brenda

More than ever I believe we all need magic in our lives so today is the first Random Acts of Magic 50!

What is Random Acts of Magic?

Random Acts of Magic takes Random Acts of Kindness to the next level. This is the launch of an initiative I have created to share and show our collective humanity. Being intentional and in service to others. Seeing past people’s circumstances by making an impact on their lives and communities with the support of my friends.

Thank you to those who have contributed to Random Acts of Magic 50 to date and unfortunately it seems like it will be some time before there will be a 50th birthday bash.

I want to kick off RAOM50 by celebrating our frontline workers and at the same time supporting Canadian makers/ artists/entrepreneurs through Wonderkind!

RAOM50 is purchasing 10 Front Line 2020 Care Packages ($99) by Wonderkind to gift to 10 frontline workers.

I invite you to celebrate a frontline worker you know in the comments below and we will be doing the draw this Wednesday May 6th at 8pm EST and then Wonderkind will deliver/ship the Front Line 2020 Care Package to the 10 everyday heroes we are celebrating.

I want to invite you and everyone who has contributed to share ideas around the causes and lives you would like to see impacted through Random Acts of Magic 50.

Random Acts of Magic fulfills my personal mantra of bringing people together to make magical things happen. It is all about giving opportunity, changing lives and empowering others.
