ਕੰਨਿਆ ਭਰੂਣ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਿੰਗ-ਅਧਾਰਤ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ, ਸਤਿਕਾਰਯੋਗ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਦ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਰੂਣ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪਾਲਕ ਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ। ਉਸਨੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪੈਰੋਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਣਜੰਮੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
