Spooky Season is my Fav Season 🧡🖤🤍 What are some of the fun Fall activities you will be doing this month?! Take the time this month to be mindful, embrace self care & try new things.

When your Mental Health is not in the best state, give yourself a break. Doing things such as eating, sleeping, socializing, and resting your body is self-care. As Clinicians, we are engraved to work on self-care, and we can even struggle with this ourselves, myself included. I like to make self-care easy and attainable for myself so that it helps reduce stress.
I am here to tell you that it is ok if you do not get everything done on your list today.

Expressing Gratitude can improve psychological or mental health. The practice of gratitude can decrease negative emotions like stress, anger, resentment, and regret, and increasing happiness, empathy, self-esteem, and mental strength, along with positive mental well-being.

Toxic family dynamics can be hard to recognize. Any behavior or scenario that makes you feel unloved, unwanted, or even just bad about yourself is most likely not a healthy one.

All families struggle from time to time, but members still feel loved, supported, and respected. A toxic or dysfunctional family dynamic, on the other hand, can feel unstable, tense, and charged, and toxic family members can cause a great deal of harm.

Therapy can help heal dysfunctional family dynamics. 🤍

Trauma is passed down generations until someone is ready to do the work and break the cycles (this person can be the black sheep of the family at times). You’re not just healing yourself , you’re healing your family’s future generation too. This isn’t easy and takes a lot of self work as well, the road to healing sometimes can be a lonely one. Nevertheless, let’s not forget the powerful ripple effect healing has ❤️‍🩹

Past trauma can affect you in many ways. It may be many years since the traumatic events, and your present life situation may be very different. However, until you are fully healed from the trauma, a part of you will remain frozen in that traumatic time. When you experience trauma, your brain goes into a highly protective mode.

Emotional Unavailability is not just a “guy thing” Society portrays it this way but this is simply not true, Women can have avoidant attachment styles and “walls”.

So this is not a gender thing, it’s a “human thing”.

The process of grief following a breakup can be more complicated especially if we don’t have other sources of support (friends and family). Breakups suck either way but when you have to grief the person you used to turn to for comfort, it makes the experience that much more painful. It’s important to be kind to yourself and take it one day at a time.

Grief during the holidays can be a difficult and emotional experience. The holidays are associated with joy, celebration, and togetherness. However those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, or grieving the loss of a relationship, the holidays can be a painful reminder of their absence.

Despite the pain of grieving during the holidays it’s vital that we remember that it is ok to feel and express these emotions. Grief comes in waves 🌊. There will be good days there will be overwhelming days. Grief is something that we can learn to move through and navigate.
