A new chapter begins as we celebrate our fourth anniversary with the launch of our refreshed branding! 🎉

Our initial packaging and design will forever hold a special place in my heart. However, it feels right to inject more personality and flair into the visual elements of Favor.

We’ve come a long way from prototypes made in May 2020.

As we round our APAHM I can’t help but reflect on the Asian Diaspora globally. While there’s a plethora of reasons why families leave their ancestral home, there’s often a shared experience that connect people of the Asian Diaspora. The Minami Family moved from Japan to Brazil in the 1920s when they began their coffee growing legacy.

Today, Yuki Minami is a fourth-generation coffee producer who brings innovative processes to the industry and has founded the exporting company Aequitas. Her coffees are exceptional and she’s been one of my coffee idols since I first roasted her coffee in 2018.

I’m tremendously proud to offer her coffee as the primary component of our updated, signature Token Dark Blend. This blend has a full body and is deep with rich with dark chocolate, toasted nut, and dried fruit notes. I heard Yuki describe how some coffees can feel like a warm hug and this blend definitely feels like that.

Los Guacharos Restocked!

Originally we got an extra bag of Los Guacharos thinking it would hold up to the demand but we sold out after only 2 weeks 😅 so we decided to get one more.

We love this coffee and producer group and are glad to see your appreciation for its floral and peachy profile 🌸🍑

This month has been wildly hectic and pretty stressful if I’m honest. Between market events and special orders, a record number of beans have been roasted!

Favor Coffee is still a one-person operation and it’s a ton of work but I’m tremendously grateful for such supportive friends, family and customers. June will provide a bit of relief with no scheduled events before we begin Farmers’ Markets in July.

***As a special throughout June, when you purchase a new subscription with 2 or more bags a month, you will receive a bonus bag of our Token Dark Blend for your first two shipments!***

Los Guacharos has such a gorgeous perfume-y aroma that I have never experienced in a coffee before.

It acutely recalls the smell of sweet olive trees which I first encountered around tea plantations in Northern Thailand.

It’s thrilling to offer another lot from Los Guacharos that also evokes such specific, wonderful memories. 🥺

We have a limited amount of this coffee left with most of it being reserved for subscribers. Grab a bag plus get free shipping on orders over $40 this week!

24/02/2023

💥cUPDATE💥 It’s always exciting to bring new coffees into rotation but the most recent addition has been requested a lot…

Decaf is back on the menu!

You’ll be hard pressed to tell this coffee has gone through a decaffeination process. We taste milk chocolate, brown spice and a red grape brightness.

We’ll be roasting up our Colombian decaf at the end of each month so get your orders in!

As the sun sets on this year’s harvest of Ethiopian Elala, we embrace the opportunity to showcase another special offer.

We’re honored to partner with Aurora Villatoro, a sole woman coffee producer in Guatemala, to bring you a dazzling microlot.

Wowieeee 😍 Looks at this shot by our friend Chris of !

Lately I’ve been having trouble feeling engaged with the coffee community. Sure, I get to see roaster friends during production days but don’t have a shop to call home or colleagues to hang with. :-/

Getting this image from Chris is a powerful reminder of how rich the coffee community is. It takes works to stay connected but Coffee folks are some of the most inspiring people I know and a big reason we do what we do.

Four years ago I was struggling to find ways to improve my roasting. I’d followed , read his book and noticed an upcoming local event for a tasting of the Roast Defect Kit.

It was the first roast-focused event I’d attended, the most illuminating experience and my introduction to .

Learning about this shared roastery model made me realize the possibility of launching my very own roasting company one day.

Being a member of the collective has connected me to a rich community of roasters and sharpened my roasting skills.

The future of this original LIC space is still unknown but the connections and support remain.

Do you know what this is? Honey process coffee!

These are coffee cherries that have had the outer fruit pulped and removed. What remains is a sticky honey-like layer which the seed is dried in.

The Honey Process name refers to this method and fermentation in this stage reduces acidity, enhances sweetness and adds complexity. Our recent offer from Yunnan, China was done in this way!

What’s your favorite coffee processing method and why? Should we offer more honey and natural process? Drop your thoughts below 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
