The premise of AIR Rugby is actually quite simple. Recently the relationship between Indigenius peoples and Canadians have been extremely strained. In June of 2015 the Truth and Reconciliation Commission had presented Canada with a document outlining how to improve the relationship with Indigenous people.
Over the last few months with the Black Lives Matter and Indigenous Lives Matter Movements we should realize that something is drastically wrong. This issue has become heightened with the recent RCMP / Police shootings and beatings of Indigenous people. Something needs to change!
AIR Rugby truly believes that sport and especially rugby can address many of these issues and lead the way towards a better world. After all, Rugby is family!
Sounds very much like my conversation with Raymond Sewell this afternoon!

Atlantic Indigenous Rugby (AIR) program is Canada’s first Indigenous program which represents the Indigenous people of the unceded traditional territories of the Mi’kmaw and Wolastoqey.
About
AIR aims to take off in the summer of 2021. We are looking to promote the great game of rugby to Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqey communities in Atlantic Canada.
We promote treaty education, the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions’ report, anti-racism messaging and the greatest sport in the world.
The Plan
A Men's and Women's (18+) team will be selected to participate in a Peace and Friendship Treaty exhibition tour during the summer of 2021.
The men’s and women’s teams will be participating in a 4-game Atlantic Peace and Friendship Tour playing within each of the Atlantic Canadian provinces.
We are accepting of all Indigenous peoples of Canada.
