The deadline (23rd June!) is approaching for students to apply for our virtual volunteer placements at The Stained Glass Museum this summer!
We're looking for some students to join us on these short-term placements this summer into the autumn, where you'll be using and developing your research skills to contribute to ongoing research into the original architectural contexts of stained glass windows in the museum’s collection.
This is a great opportunity to develop your own skills, gain experience and have access to our amazing collection of stained glass. Your work will also benefit the museum greatly and allow us to learn more about our collection too!
These short placements provide an opportunity for undergraduate or postgraduate Arts and Humanities students to engage with collections-based research. Find out more about the role on our website here: https://stainedglassmuseum.com/volunteer
Please do share this or tag anyone below who you think might be interested! The deadline for Expressions of Interest is midday on Wednesday 23rd June

Will you be joining The Stained Glass Museum tomorrow evening for the first of our online spring lecture series in 2021!
Join us tomorrow, Wednesday 24th February on Zoom at 7pm GMT for Online Lecture: The stained glass of Douglas Hamilton (1895-1959), a talk by Jeff Hopewell which will give an insight into the life and work of Glasgow stained glass artist Douglas Hamilton (1895-1959), setting his importance in the wider context of 20th century Scottish stained glass.
Hamilton trained with Alf Webster and the Stephen Adam Studio in Glasgow, and spent some time at the studio of Guthrie & Wells before setting up his own studio in the city from 1938 until his death in 1959.
Whilst looking at his work in general, within the development of stained glass in Scotland, the lecture will also pay particular attention to his war memorial windows and depictions of everyday life.
Jeff Hopewell is a priest in the Church of England, now retired. He has long been interested in church buildings and furnishings, with a particular bent towards stained glass. His first book on the subject, ‘Orchestrations of colour’, on the life and work of Douglas Hamilton, was published last year. He is currently researching the work of the Victorian firm of the Horwood Brothers, Frome.
However, he also has a certain knowledge of Japanese woodblock prints and can modestly claim to be a world expert on ganjifa, the traditional hand-painted playing cards of India.
Tickets, which are priced at £4 for Friends of the Museum or £5 otherwise, plus a small Eventbrite booking fee, can be purchased here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-stained-glass-of-douglas-hamilton-1895-1959-tickets-139420906685
