Sea Thrift Design
Unique hand made wall displays; cabinets of curiosities; printers trays; vintage items and found object assemblage art.
Sea Thrift Design combines my obsession with printer's trays and collecting things on beaches! Sea shells, sea urchins, sea glass, sea pottery - first I had pockets full, then jars, then boxes - so eventually started to create something with them. But now I'm collecting more things so the boards are more varied, so I don't think I'll ever finish! I'm also selling rustic, hand made silver jewellery
Seaweed cyanotype - handmade print presented in a heavyweight mount and backboard. Finished size around outer mount: 10 x 8 inches (20.3 x 25.4cm).
I made this from seaweed which I collected from the Scottish coast, then pressed and dried before making a cyanotype print from it.
Beautiful silver cutlery rings in stock, hand made from repurposed spoons and forks.
I’ve got a range of different sized, pressed seaweed pictures available in my Etsy shop. I made these with seaweed collected from the Inner Hebrides, then dried and pressed onto watercolour paper.

Bognor Regis looking amazing in the yellow ochre colours of this geological map! The dark yellow tone shows brickearth, which I thought sounded industrial, but turns out to be wind-blown dust deposited under peri or post glacial conditions. Swipe for close ups - a gorgeous map!

This map of Kintyre contains one of Scotland’s many Tarberts. Tarbert (or sometimes Tarbet) is derived from Gaelic and means ‘carrying across’. Tarberts are found at the narrowest neck of land between two bodies of water, where goods or whole boats could be carried across. For many centuries, boats were the main route of travel around this rugged coastline, but a narrow neck of land could make a good short cut.
