I wrote a new blog post to help me record my thoughts upon my son's birth, before memory makes it hazy.

» And Baby Makes Three Josh Strnad I was at work when I got the phone call; I had just released my last class of the day and was settling in to my desk to complete some much-needed grading.

So I updated my blog (finally). Here it it is.

» Blog Josh Strnad The problem with not blogging regularly (here we go with the metacommentary again) is that life continues to happen at the same rate as ever. As a result, events, experiences, challenges, and changes stack up alarmingly, growing fusty and gathering a thick layer of dust before actually making it onl...

It's that time again-- time for me to talk about some of the books I enjoyed over the past year. What were some of your favorites?

» Blog Josh Strnad For me, New Years is always a time for reflection and thought—a time for me to remember the past year’s struggles and triumphs and to look ahead to dreams and goals for the future. I’m not big on New Years Resolutions (as one really has no idea what new challenges or opportunities tomorrow wil...

Today I finished a pet project-- illustrating my children's book. Here's a short blog post about the nearly decade-long journey to get it done.

» Done, Done, On to the Next One Josh Strnad Today marks a milestone. I completed the final illustration for my children’s picture book. As I glued the last piece in place, sitting back to examine my work, I experienced a quiet glow of satisfaction. No fanfare blew, no confetti fell from the ceiling (although the floor around me was, as usual,...

Silent Screams– SUBMISSION CALL | Josh Strnad 24/01/2016

This is it, folks, the moment you've been waiting for: The official Table of Contents for my upcoming anthology, Silent Screams. Congratulations to the authors who made it in, and thanks to all the authors who submitted stories. Choosing between so many good ones was difficult.

Silent Screams– SUBMISSION CALL | Josh Strnad Stories are powerful—they can open our perspectives to allow us to see things in ways we haven’t before and can be used to provide a voice to those who otherwise would remain silent. With that in mind, I am pleased to announce that I am now taking submissions for the upcoming horror/dark fiction ant…

I'm pushing back the release date for Silent Screams to early 2016. This book is going to be pretty great, but I need time in order to make it the best it can possibly be. Thanks to everyone who has given your encouragement and support.

Setbacks and Excuses | Josh Strnad “Editing an anthology will be a lot of work,” they said. “It’ll take a lot of time and dedication,” they said. Did I listen? Ha!

is having a blast at ConCarolinas this weekend.

20/02/2015

Big changes ahead for Pantheon-- Musa Publishing is closing its doors, so Pantheon will no longer be published as an ebook by them (and the ebook will be removed from all digital stores). All rights to the book revert back to me, and I'm going to weigh my options to figure out what is the best way to move forward in order to make the book available to as wide an audience as possible. I still have some Musa-Branded print copies left, though, so all upcoming signings are, for the time being, still on the calendar. (I'm looking at you, ConCarolinas!)

Thanks to everyone who has been supportive of me and my writing thus far. This isn't the end, but merely a new step. I can't wait to see what comes next.

My story "Nine-Tenths of the Law" appears alongside nine other stories of technological terror. If Dark Hall's Cosmic Horror Anthology (containing my story "Goddess of Our Fathers") is any indication of quality, this is going to be a book sci-fi and horror fans don't want to miss.

Alternate Hilarities 23/02/2014

As I mentioned yesterday, the publisher for Alternate Hilarities is running a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for a print version of the book (otherwise it'll be just an ebook). As I also mentioned yesterday, please use your own best judgment to decide whether this is something you would be interested in... as is the case with any anthology I have no control over anything besides my own story and cannot speak for the tastefulness of quality of the others included. If you're inclined to donate or to purchase an advance copy, here is the link.
