Those shelf exams and step exams love to catch med students on contraindications to meds. Here’s the most common reasons a patient may not be a good candidate for the levonorgestrel IUD.

T/F: ovarian cancer is a contraindication to receiving the Levonorgestrel IUD...If a patient seeking contraception has a certain type of cancer, they should be advised against the Levonorgestrel IUD. Those include cervical, endometrial or breast cancer. But not ovarian cancer!
