This woman is the reason I started performing my poetry. Alysia Harris of Brave New Voice 2008. Of The Strivers Row. Author of the book “How much we Must Have Looked like Stars to Stars.” She looks at life through a lens of delicate observation and she is such a careful writer and powerful spoken word poet. I finally met her at a show and she noticed me in the audience mouthing the words to all of her poems with her! Who are your heroes?

I failed so many times trying to write my first book.
I had a writing degree and still I struggled to push the language out and arrange it into something comprehensible. I was beginning to think it wasn’t meant for me. The act of finishing the manuscript unedited, ugly, under developed gave me the extra push to finish the entire process. Taking one step let’s you know that you can take two then three and before you know it you will be sprinting. What does your next step look like?
