2008 census placed Warrap state in the third position in terms of the population, after the most populous Jong'lei and C.E.S topped the 1st and 2nd positions respectively. In regard to the population, the state comprises of six counties. Among these counties is Twic County with its headquarters in Turalei. By the way,Twic County given the same census is the second most populated county following Gogrial West County. This is to purposely give background knowledge about the state, as the focus goes to the upcoming elections for Twic Students' Association in Universities and Higher Institutes (TSAUHI) in Juba.

As the election day is set for Sunday, Warrap TV team is very much concerned to see its peaceful ending, so that we can have peace all around. And it is important that the team at this very moment shares small opinion with concerned students.
This opinion is about Kunyjok Madior, the candidate for TSAUHI's chairpersonship, and the opinion is entirely based on the team Knowledge about him.

Firstly, the cool thing about him is that this man is a very much devoted Catholic believer for so long, and had gained huge experience in leadership over the past years in church service. Another cool thing is that he possess highest level of calmness in whatever he does. It's a character of a God-fearing leader; and really he is! Being always calm is one of the qualities of a good leader. Subsequently,it helps when faced by hot situations, and so, the opposite is dangerous!
Secondly, his manifesto is so clear. And his objectives are so promising, get them!

With these few justifications and a lots more not stated here, the team thinks he is a perfect fit for chairmanship over his competitor(s). Please vote for him with a decision that is not based on friendship and kinship (being relative) but based on his capability and strength. He is extremely an honest man. You wouldn't regret electing him.
Wish you a successful and peaceful election !

South Sudan, a country that, for so long, its citizens have been deprived of happiness has yesterday gained a greater degree of happiness after 3 wins in a row. National basketball team is a living-man-created happiness of this year! We wish them a good health and continuity.
Change anywhere in the world doesn't come for free, it's always hard effort, and by open-minded Nationals. However, it is in most cases difficult to get such people in a country that is struggling for almost everything. To this standpoint, Luol Deng is one among the fews. He is the one and only man to inspire and nurture young generation. We hope to get more of his calibre, as the country gets to dive in development in different walks of life.
Bravo! Luol Deng

Achai Wiir and the mystery behind her.

In the recent news on social media, Achai Wiir is wanted to answer charges of a human trafficking case filed against her by the Ugandan's police.

This came after the police arrested Koryom Awet, popularly known by his social media name, Promota Kay Two together with another man. What led to their arrest is that the two men were found with eight babies aging from two months to two years at a motel in Kampala.
However, it's still not clear why the babies were transported to Kampala. Police investigation will clearly feed the public with accurate information, if investigation goes properly without bias or cover-up that might probably arise.

Now, let dissect this development to make seemingly accurate analysis.

A few days ago, Achaiwiir's brother, Koryom Alor went to a one of the orphanage centers in Juba (photo attached) on a mission of Achai Wiir foundation, an organization that helps orphans and people with special disabilities. It also helps on occasionally basis in clearing some hospital bills for patients who come from a disadvantaged background.
This simply might imply that the babies were taken to Kampala for schooling, but the questions that come to one's mind ar; why did the lodge at a motel instead of a hotel? Were the babies legally transported to Kampala? Definitely, no! That's why they were arrested? So, why did she order her brother to illegally take babies?
It sounds mysterious to you ..right? Yes, it does!

In the recent years, many people have been curious of what business does Achaiwiir run, and how did she become successful in a narrow period of time! No clear answers to those questions.
And so, people mostly resort to linking her with President Kiir given the closeness of Awet Alor, Achaiwiir's father to the president. Other people link her to a Illuminati, an invisible spirit that works on people who subscribed to, inorder to become successful in life.
But all this is still black and white, no proper evidence to base concrete justification.

As per now, we are looking forward to watching this incident to the end.

Breaking silence in solidarity with the departed soul of our late spiritual leader, Ajingdit.

Here is the simple question which may beg the simple answer from TOA’s top leaders and those who are ready to play it on 3rd/01/2022.

“WHAT IF WADIT AJINGDIT WAS YOUR FATHER, WILL YOU PLAY OLYMPICS GAMES BEFORE 40 DAYS?”.

Initially, I was a great supporter of TOA till today simply because I was one of the first former players of Twic Olympics and having known the importance of it during those days. And that its objectives ever since helped Twic community to peacefully coexist within herself and with the neighbors for decades.

Even at the onset of changing its names to Twic Olympics Association(TOA) in Juba and the plans to revive its games at the grassroots, I was among those who amidst the conspiracies and thunderstorms which engulfed TOA still argue for its activities and games to materialize as scheduled. Resumption of TOA was seen by many of us as a golden step toward perfection of our union and beyond.

But little did we know what future holds for Twic community ahead the plans for TOA to kick off its sports activities, the untimely death of Wadit Ajingdit was indeed invisible and unpredictable to TOA’s committees and its well-wishers since it is divine in nature and that mankind can’t and will never know the departing time of the living soul.. It was a great loss coming unknowingly to overshadow our happiness and readiness for TOA’s games, Christmas festival and new year 2022. May almighty God rest the soul of our late spiritual leader in eternal peace.

As one of the followers from far distance of late Wadit Ajingdit’s casket reception, burial and funeral rites, I believed that Ajingdit Deng Thiapduok demise tells unique observations about who the spiritual leader was among his people. It is not hypothetical as one may take the content of this post, but through traditional customs and beliefs, the death of a renowned spiritual leader is being mourned putting into consideration all spiritual rites for the burial are traditionally fulfilled in good spirit by his community before same community opts for other social activities such as games to be exact. All these rites are time dependent and the mourners should possess both earthly and heavenly patience to properly prepare and complete the needed rites for their departed spiritual leader.

Before and after the burial, I was among those who honestly argued the postponement of TOA’s games to later date in our little corners so as for the entire community to complete the necessary burial rites and farewell for the late spiritual leader. Because in my personal viewpoint, nothing is more important than completing the funeral rites for the loss of Ajingdit. We had similar losses of our eminent personalities in both recent and far past, and our community has never altered whatsoever its customary norms and beliefs for the burial rites. I don’t know what is exceptional in this difficult time in the history of our community?, if one may ask willingly.

It is already in the pipeline that on 3rd/01/2022, TOA’s games will kick off as planned by its executive committee while on other side of the coin, part of the same community still mourns and waits for 40 days for the holy farewell of the departed soul. What is the benefit of TOA’s games to be played at the time we lost and still mourn our late spiritual leader?. What kind of unity or else success will it bring to the community?. Why is it so difficult to postpone it till the needed funeral rites are fully done?, Why all this rush?. What image may these TOA’s games present after they have been played?.

Am not a jewish prophet, but I predict that something somewhere is fishy, though invisible. May almighty God bless the mourners till the 40 days and beyond.

In solidary with the people of Twic Mayardit as the body of Ajingdit arrived at the Yaath Cyierdit in Mathiang Adiang(Wunrook). It was 6 hours of an emotional ride, and I have never seen a local religious leader being honoured like that. A trip from Mayen-abun to Wunrook was hard, and it became harder when the casket arrived under the 'Kuel' inside Wunrook than turning back to Mathiang where the casket was placed inside the Yath(shrine). It seems like the whole Bhar el gazal region attended the reception of the casket because the population was too huge. After listening to people and the Governor of Warrap Aleu Ayieny, I learn much about Ajingdit to Twic Mayardit, neighbouring Abyei, Aloor and the communities of Warrap.

With diversity in my mind always, I thought Ajingdit was a religious leader who should be accorded the same respect as Bishops, Imams and many others. He was far popular with a huge following after all. When the crowd converged at Juba's airport this morning, I thought that was one of the largest crowds, but I was wrong. When the casket arrived in Mayen-abun, thank Marko of Twic Media Reporters, who allowed us to watch such a historical event. Rest in peace, Ajingdit.

At Mayen-abun, the unthinkable happened because women, children and older people could run and walk for more than five hours. The convoy of trucks and small cars was behind the casket, wondering how people would manage such heat? I would be lying if I didn't say that this is the second-largest funeral I saw in South Sudan after Dr John Garang. As a young boy who grew in the village watching Dinka religious practices, I thought it was the right time to confirm if the Dinka people were 'devil worshippers' as alleged by other spiritual leaders?

That was not the case at Ajingdit's funeral. Instead, the people and the religious figures were singing songs with the word Nhialic (God) in them and Ajingdit's blessings in the symbol of Ajingdit. So, again, I thought I heard what I knew as a young boy in the village. According to the people, Ajingdit was the voice of Nhialic (God) through his ancestors in which people were referencing some of the events he has shown his religious might.

Ajingdit and his followers are following the ancient Dinka's religious practices. Still, the colonial powers challenged such ways of worship when Islam and Christianity were introduced to the Dinka people less than 200 years ago. Unlike the Muslims and the Christians, the Dinka people have always believed they have a connection to God the creator through their deities. I couldn't hear a single word referring to 'jok (Satan)' but rather Nhialic (God), and this can be a challenge to those who disregarded or branded the Dinka religious practices as bad.

Looking at such a huge turn out to pay tribute to Ajingdit, other religious leaders who branded the Dinka's religious believes as 'satanic' would have to do some explanations. If the Dinka believes Nhialic through their ancestors, then why would anyone think other religions are far better than what the Dinka have practised for centuries. Much of the Dinka religious beliefs cannot be separated from what is being practised in other religions. The only problem is that Dinka's religion talks about God, the creator of human lives and everything, but they don't have written books like other religions.

The passing of Ajingdit will ignite another theological debate across South Sudan. In Lou land, there is Ngungdeng B**g Church, the rise of Dak Kueth and many other religious leaders. Who has the right to brand these practices as satanic when they worship God but in indigenous ways? The population that welcomed Ajingdit today is saying something about South Sudan. If the largest population of the Dinka and Nuer are still animists, what would let one think that South Sudan is a Christian or Muslim nation?

What my late father said about Wadit Ajingdit in his autobiography, THE WRONG CAMP.

Below is an excerpt:

In February 1986, Major Deng Ajuong Malual, commander of the Nile Batallion of the SPLA, arrived in eastern Gogrial. It was the largest force to reach northern Bahr el Ghazal since the beginning of the war. Upon his arrival he visited the spiritual leader of the Adiang section, Cyer-dit Deng Thiapduok, also known as ‘Ajingdit’, a stepbrother of Cyer Cyer-dit whom we met at Pan-Nyok when we pursued the Marahliin cattle raiders. They met at Maker Cattle camp in Apuk area to discuss his strategy. Ajingdit was able to give him exact details of the devastation caused by the Marahliin in Gogrial and Twic in particular. He told the major that the Marahliin had adopted a new strategy - killing the men and elderly women and carrying away the young women and children, besides the cattle. Many children had been brought to Gogrial town for safety. He told the major that if he attacked Gogrial town, the children would be forced to return to the villages where they would be exposed to the danger of being carried away by the Marahliin, besides the hunger now sweeping the countryside. He added that March and April would be very hot and water would be scarce, which would make it very difficult to flee with the children when the Marahliin came. He therefore begged the major not to attack Gogrial town, but to concentrate on the danger posed by the cattle raiders in the countryside. The Arabs in Gogrial town should not pose any danger, he said. And he advised him to leave the running of the town to me, Bol Majok.

“If you fight the Marahliin and report to John Garang how many Arabs you have killed and how many guns you have captured, I’m sure he will be pleased,” Ajingdit said.

“I’m sorry,” Deng Ajuong replied, “but I have been sent to liberate Gogrial town. I have to obey orders.”

So Deng sent only one company to Twic, while the rest of his force advanced on Gogrial town.

On 27 February my father-in-law, Ayuel ‘Manyang’ Rehan Nuer, sent me a message from Mangol Apuk, urging me to make up my mind whether to stay with the government or join the SPLA. If I was staying with the government, I would have to get out of Gogrial fast, as the town could not possibly withstand the attack. I immediately arranged for my family to leave.

The time had come for me to join the movement.

“Get into the car, quickly!” I told the children. “You are not going to spend the night here.”

Just then we heard the first gunshots. The army reconnaissance had collided with the SPLA. My children stood there, confused. “Get into the car!” I shouted. “Move!” More people than a Landrover was meant to carry jumped into it, and it pulled away towards Twic. I remained standing outside the fence, watching them drive away. Then a bullet hit the wire netting of the veranda. I fell down flat and crawled back into the house.

My family drove right into the advancing SPLA soldiers, but as they were women and children, they were allowed to pass. I was already regretting my decision to allow my children to move off while the battle had already started. My whole family could have perished if caught in the crossfire. There was no guarantee that the SPLA would spare the lives of families and allow them to pass.

The fighting continued into the night. Most of the residential area was set ablaze. The entire population was fleeing into the countryside. The prison was overrun, and only the police and army garrison held out till morning. The police lost two men, and the army three, including 1st Lt. Akol Kuol, the man who had accused me of joining the SPLA when I had gone to Twic. The SPLA lost more men, because they had not surveyed the town before they launched the attack. Unlike other towns they had attacked before, they found Gogrial empty when they moved in. I remained alone, an assistant commissioner without any personnel.

In the morning, two of the citizens who had left during the fighting came back to the town to speak to me – Rosario Deng Bek Bol and Aguan Nyuol Aguan, the son of my maternal uncle. I told them to inform Deng Ajuong that I was joining the SPLA, and was trying to persuade a police officer, Major Col Mayen from Gok to join me with the whole police force. Major Col Mayen, however, was not yet ready to defect. Aguan took my message to commander Deng Ajuong, and when he returned I sent him back again with a message that I would be coming in a car the following morning. On that morning, I left the commanders of the army and the police on my veranda, while I left with my bodyguards ostensibly to inspect the market. As I expected, many policemen who saw me driving off towards Twic, also decided to defect. I spent the night at Wunrok, then drove to Deng Ajuong’s base near Gogrial town. I spent two days with him, after which he told me to return to Wunrok and wait for him there.

Gogrial had received government reinforcement from Wau, and Deng Ajuong was not able to capture it. Meanwhile, the Marahliin had stepped up their devastation in Twic area. One day Deng Ajuong came to Wunrok and spent the night at my house. That morning we were attacked by the Marahliin, and I narrowly escaped with my family. My house and everything I had prepared for my family were burned to the ground. Only the cattle remained. Ajingdit’s warning to Deng Ajuong had come true. He was not able to capture Gogrial town, nor could he stop the Marahliin’s attack and looting. Life became extremely difficult. I had to reroof two huts and I went in search of dura so that my family wouldn’t starve when I left for Bilpham in Ethiopia for SPLA training as advised by Deng Ajuong.

I left my house at Acol Village on 1 June 1986. I took with me my third wife Acol Ayuel Rehan, her brother Maror, my two sons Ajal and Wal, and the sons of my brothers and sisters and other close relatives. My other wives and children remained.

I was going to spend a month at Mangol Apuk to assemble the recruits I was to take to Bilpam and collect some bulls for the journey, as all the cattle of Twic had been moved to the Mangol Apuk area to avoid Marahliin raids. By the end of June I had over a thousand men and sixty bulls (besides what we had already slaughtered for food at Mangol). Managing so many men at Mangol was complicated, so I decided to move on.

Our next stop was at Maker Apuk cattle camp, where I knew I would find Ajiingdit Deng Maduok, our spiritual leader. “I’m on my way to Bipham with a large number of recruits,” I told him, hoping for his blessing.

“There will be many problems and obstacles on your way,” he said. “But you should still go.” He turned to the men with me. “Whenever you get into difficulties, call my name, and God will protect you on your journey.”

I am a Christian and I do believe in God and Jesus Christ, but I was brought up in a society that always looked to Ajiingdit (or Cyerdit, as he was also called) in difficult times, and believed that he would help them overcome their problems. If someone from our section, especially from Adiang, walked alone at night and was suddenly overcome with fear, he would pray to Cyerdit. I am no exception. I call on God, Jesus and Cyerdit in turns.

Dear Gov Aleu Ayieny

Please consider postponement of the political Olympics scheduled for 3rd of January 2022 in Turalei, Twic County for the following three(3) simple reasons:

1. Twic Mayardit Community is mourning at this moment. Some of you think that people should celebrate. Some of us want traditional methods of mourning. For instance one can't go attend wedding parties because we are supposed to celebrate.

2. There is been a huge increase in cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 across the world. Juba is currently back on Lemon and Ginger. The head of COVID-19 Taskforce HE Hussein Ayii Akol was forced to instruct all government agencies to ensure compliance with vaccinations on all their premises. Now, you have invited him as the Guest of Honor. What would stop the spread of COVID-19 cases and possible deaths of our vulnerable rural population??

3. Health & Sanitation: As a person who has organized these events few times, one month before the start of the games, we usually construct public toilets for hundreds of athletes and those who come to watch from other Payams and Counties. Currently, in Turalei, no extra toilets (Pit Latrines) were constructed. Add the fact that floods water is everywhere and Anaam water body surrounding Turalei. What would stop possible outbreaks of cholera and dysentery?? Why risk the lives of our people??

Finally, comrade Gov, what do we, as a people supposed to gain in return for this heightened risk to the lives of our vulnerable rural populace?? Peace and reconciliation? Have we been at war in Twic? Why are you spending so much time in Twic trying to divide a already peaceful Community instead of being in Tonj East and some parts of Tonj North where intercommunal fighting has been raging? That's where you are needed the most??

Yours Sincerely
SGT Agel Ring Machar
