The most important and foremost lesson taught to us back in Interior Design school was the importance of hand drawing, of being able to whip up sketches as and when the client is describing their ideas or we are showing our own. Forever grateful to those lessons learnt!
✏️Throwback to the proposed design drawings of my first project ✏️

Contemporary + minimal design sideboard unit for a dining area. It’s design serves as a small storage space and more of a style aspect to make the open dining space aesthetically pleasing. (A stylish mirror or a painting being the focal point).

Pantone color of the year 2020 💙💙!

🔸Bedroom + spacious seating area + kitchenette 🔸

Large open rooms particularly those without walls, can so creatively be used to make distinct areas of usage with the help of partitions. Here, client preference was a laser cut MDF jaali partition that lent a beautiful traditional feel to the entire space.

Maple wood veneer with lacquered glass inlay for this yellow+blue themed children’s bedroom. Half ‘n’ half wallpaper design idea by experimentative clients 😊

Lighting can safely be said as one of the most important aspects of design. Mood changers in itself, keeping multiple lighting options (combination of warm & cool lights in a bedroom) lets you alter between them to suit the occupants moods.
I’m personally a big fan of partitions 😊. They let you play around and create spaces that are individually comforting once the partition is placed. Here you can see how a big space has been made into a bedroom, seating & a kitchen area (more pictures coming up), using a traditional jali design MDF partition that eventually make you feel like they’ve always been a part of the room. That’s the purpose of design- adapting comfortably. 😊

Console tables are a strong focal point in a room and gives a great first impression for guests entering home when used in the entryway! Depending on how simple or fancy your table is, you can pair it with bold/sober mirrors and small accent pieces that balance out the overall look. Its lends a classic feel to a space! ✨

Scandinavian kitchen design.
▫️Sleek▪️Streamlined surfaces▫️Clean & open spaces◾️ Muted color palette ▫️ Dominance of White◾️

We, Indians, aren’t quite yet comfortable with the Scandinavian design concept in our homes cause whites and muted colours are a no-no for maintenance. So as a designer, you sometimes get flexible with a mix & match of themes to notch up to your clients comfort level. 😊

Doing black & whites gives a chance to appreciate the color more. In this case, would you think it’s a typical brown wood wardrobe? A walnut brown maybe? Or a dark wood or a light maple shade?

And who would say leather finish is only for upholstery use...🤔 Leather textured laminates for wardrobes, cupboards, shoe racks and similar pieces, (even kitchen cabinets if clients are daring! 😉)

3-color laminates are a challenge to work with without overdoing it. But when done in a subtle way, can give a good end result.
