Introducing the Maxey Archtops Green Street! Hand carved top and back with bent sides, this archtop is fully hollow with no blocks. It is fitted with Seymour Duncan P90s and has a responsive, robust acoustic sound. The P90s accurately project that big tone with an airiness and some bite added when you dig in. The P90’s have a wide range of sound and can give you country, blues, rock on a rooftop, and rich jazz tones.

The Lark is a boutique small body 13” archtop. The flame maple top and mahogany back are hand carved with bent mahogany sides. The top has a nitro finish and the back, sides and neck are a satin matte finish. The guitar features 24 fret and 25.5” scale length with a 14” radius on a neck that is a C shape, on the thin side of medium. Neck measurements are: 0.845” thickness at 1st fret, 0.90” neck thickness at 12th fret and 2.07” neck width at 12th fret. The nut is 1 11/16” nut width. Weight is 5lbs 9oz. The Lark is constructed with historic archtop building methods, it is fully hollow, parallel braced, with kerfing and carved top and back.

Here is the Maxey Archtops GH1 well into production!!!! The Guitar Heads 1 is a 13” walnut body, handmade and hand carved archtop built to do the exact stuff we like! Sustain, overtones, vibe and TONE! The GH1 pickups will be configured in series, split and parallel, with a flame maple neck and ebony fingerboard. It’s going to be insane. For real.

One will be available for immediate delivery on completion. I will have another one for a while for demos and for people to try it out in person.

Introducing the Maxey Archtops Night Owl by PHRED Instruments, a hand carved, small body, double cutaway guitar. The classic pairing of spruce top and flame maple back/sides is complemented by construction methods used by historic archtop makers: all solid wood selection, parallel bracing, kerfing, mahogany binding, nitro finish, ebony fingerboard, tailpiece and floating bone saddle bridge. It’s 24 fret neck with 25.5” scale is designed for easy access to the entire fretboard. Night Owl will be equipped with SD59 humbuckers in series, parallel and split functions. The wooden volume/tone and switches will be positioned by the bridge and f-hole for easy control of a wide range of tones.

Hand carved small body archtops are known for their blooming notes. They are rich in acoustic quality, harmonics and responsive to the touch. With hand made instruments, the woods are carefully crafted individually to bring the most out of the particular materials. We are happy to offer a new luthier made option to small body archtop enthusiasts. Night Owl offers a new tool for our creative musical community that nods to the lineage but spreads its own wings.
