Hello Everyone,

In my process of transitioning from herbal student to herbal professional, I am working with a professional mentor. This means I need clients! So, I am looking for one person each month who would be willing to allow me to discuss their case (with identifying information protected) with my professional mentor.

I am offering a discounted rate for these appointments. Your initial 1-2 hour appointment will be $60 (regularly $120), and you will receive herbal formulation (herbs are available at local merchants...I do not have wholesale herbs yet), meditation/movement, and/or nutritional suggestions as appropriate for your case. These appointments are first come/first serve. Let me know if you are interested and we can set up an appointment.

Thank you!

I am introducing something new in my yoga classes this week. These are “consent chips”. I like to give hands on adjustments in my classes, but somedays, for whatever reason, a student may not want to be touched. So, each student gets a chip, they choose how they feel that day (assist or no assist) and put the chip next to their mat with that side facing up. It is a tool for unspoken communication between me and my students, allows for personal boundaries, and keeps the mat a comfortable place for students.

Some informative abstracts from scientific journals. Elderberries (especially when made into a yummy syrup) are one of my personal favorites for the care of fall and winter colds and flus.

This is a big deal to herbalists like me. This case sets a precedent that traditional herbal recipes and formulas cannot be trademarked. This helps to keep the “medicine of the people” in the hands of the people. Congratulations to the Fire Cider 3 and the Free Fire Cider movement.

What should you know about seeing an herbalist....

1. Herbalists are not doctors. We cannot diagnose, prescribe, or offer prognosis. While we can suggest lab work, or similar studies, we cannot order them.
2. An herbalist may ask you to make lifestyle changes outside of just taking herbs.
3. A well trained, Clinical Herbalist will have education to support them in their profession. It may be through a formal university or as an apprentice to a Master or Senior Herbalist. If an herbalist cannot attest to such training, it may be best to steer clear.
4. Plants were our first medicines and are still a primary source of medicine for many people and cultures. Today, herbalists are increasingly recognized as a vital part of an integrative health care team.
5. In light of this, your herbalist may ask your permission to update your primary care provider about the plan of care that you agree on.
6. It is your responsibility to inform your herbalist of medical conditions, allergies, surgeries, pregnancies, prescription drugs and over the counter drugs you are taking.
7. It is also imperative that you are honest about your diet and your habits...we will ask a lot of personal questions, but there is a reason. We want to get to the root of the problem.
8. Finally, we are always on the side of the client. We want to see your health improve and your quality of life expand.

Do you have any questions about seeing a herbalist?
